For me that I am Portuguese, I started speaking in English and we were surprised that the attendant was Brazilian so we spoke in portuguese, it was a nice start! The staff is 5 stars, always concerned about the client satisfaction. We stayed two nights and it was perfect. Good quality of the rooms and beds for the price. We...

We stayed 2 nights in a private double room at the Red Carpet. The hostel was very close to the Hauptbanhof, near many good restaurants and easy to find. Our room was extremely spacious, clean and the private bathroom was a nice treat from our previous hostel stops with shared washrooms. Water was hot, water pressure was amazing, only downside...

Great hostel, great service, clean rooms and good breakfast for only 5 euros. Highly recommended! The only downside is that wifi is only available in the common areas but not in the rooms. However, the hostel is in a good location, close to the underground and to the main attractions.

Had a pretty decent 3 night stay at this hostel. Dorm room setup, 4 beds with its own bathroom. One key per room that you have to keep checking in. WiFi was only downstairs in the common area which was annoying, and not many outlets in the room. But the location is great, room is comfortable, and the staff is...

We stayed in Red Carpet Hostel for 2 nights in July 2013. Liked: Price was inexpensive for Vienna; we paid about 40 euros per night for a double room. The bar downstairs had inexpensive drinks - less than 2 euros for a beer. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. 5 minute walk from the Vienna Westbahnhof train station...

The hotel does not have any amenity goods. There is no soap, shampoo, towels ( You can borrow a towel about 1 Euro per person ) no air con, however the room was quite clean, and confortable. The location was nice, it was very near the Wienna East station. There is a bar, they got us a welcome drink. Sometimes...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.

“There can be a lot of noise in the street outside the hostel in summer, so you should probably ask for a room at the back if you're sensitive to noise. You might want to avoid rooms with broken plumbing!”
