We did not stay at the Sacher Hotel nor did we eat at their acclaimed restaurant. We did check the place out early in the day and walked around inside. The ambience is nice and it was fun to enjoy their lobby for a few minutes.

We narrowly chose the Sacha over a couple of other Vienna hotels, including the relatively new Park Hyatt which - in the flesh as well as in the pictures - looks like it's been very nicely done and would be well worth a look. We went for the Sacha, despite it being notably more expensive than even the Hyatt, as...

Well, this is by all means the best hotel that I have ever stayed in my life. but - I haven't paid, rather was invited by the Austrian government as part of a delegation. It's a hotel with a great atmosphere and ambiance. The Restaurent's are all really good. Rooms are modern and well appointed. The hotel really brings out the sense of history in Vienna. It's a good idea to book at he main Restaurent in advance because it is not easy to get a booking there.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
