We landed in Vienna quite late in the evening. We took the CAT (Airport train) into the main Vienna train station, this took 16mins and I believe it was around 19 euros each for a return. From the main station (Wein Mitte) we used the underground (u4 line) to get to Schottenring and then changed to the u2 line one...

We stayed in Hotel de France for four nights. It's located in an excellent location across the road from an underground station and tram stops (71, 1 and D) and has easy access to city centre and airport. It only a 10 minute walk from the Rathaus, Hoffburg and Volksgarten. It's a good hotel but not a great hotel. Rooms...

Lovely hotel in a perfect location for the City. It is located on the northern part of the ring road - and is 2 minutes from the local train station. the rooms are generous with plenty of space. My only criticism are the night / bed lights are very close to the head board (in our room) so I kept...

A wonderful room in an extremely classy and comfortable hotel. Not cheap, but very good value for a four night stay. Staff were fantastic, friendly and extremely helpful and courteous. Eating in the restaurant the first night was excellent but on the expensive side.

As I've stayed here a few times before it will be obvious that I am quite happy with this hotel. This visit I stayed in the same room as for my previous trip I had requested a room in the same area on a high floor not overlooking the front as it is usually quieter. As usual the reception were welcoming. the...

I stay at Hotel de France in my visits to Vienna. It is the perfect place if you are there for the university but it is also a short walk to almost all attractions and a minute walk to the public transportation. The rooms are large and comfortable, breakfast is great. Staff are very helpful.. It is always good to...

Extremely good location, right next to one of the underground stations. Staff were very helpful. The room was of a good size and comfortable. Plenty of hanging and draw space. And, real hangers in the wardrobe that you can actually take down, not those awful things that are attached !!!!! Wonderful breakfast, which was included in the price of the...

This hotel is in a great location, easy to get into the main centre of Vienna and also directly opposite the metro U2 line. Staff were great, the hotel is a little tired and I imagine looked a lot better years ago. Rooms are clean and spacious. The only annoying thing was that the glass rod light pendant in the...

Arrived at this very grand looking hotel, welcomed warmly by reception staff and allowed to book in before time as the room was ready. Got given free wifi codes and a load of booklets about things to do. Made our way to our room on the first floor. Very grand staircase and corridors. The room was a good size ,...

The hotel is actually on the Ringstraße and very conveniently located for the North side of the Inner City - 10 minutes walk from the Hofburg. The hotel's public area is well appointed. The Reception desk is unwelcoming and matter of fact. No great welcome. The breakfast we did not take. We had booked a breakfast online for the first...

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
