This is one of the places where 5 rating seems very low... A traditional hotel with the owners [ Helene and Andrea] an epitome of hospitality makes your stay extremely comfortable. They have an energetic team who are equally customer oriented. The room on ground floor is quite big compared to other European hotel rooms. The breakfast has a decent...

This hotel has a long tradition and it feels when you arrive that you are a "guest", not a "customer". As advent comes closer, we were greeted with home-made cookies. The rooms are not big, but in traditional style furniture, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom clean and functional. They announce "activated water" in the bathroom, whatever this might...

Dear Johannes, thank you very much for all the compliments! I am verry happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with the home-made cookies (Lili did them) at our house. It is, you are 100% right, our aim to make our guests feel part of the "Jäger familiy". We have a long tradition of hospitality started by my great...

Have to say very good experience overall. Very helpful staff/ owners . Met the owners too very warm welcoming feeling. However I still can't figure out how it's a 4* based on facilities. Apart from that would recommend it

Dear Rennie, I am glad too hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Hotel Jäger. Our house is a boutique Hotel with only 16 rooms. We do offer a very rich and praised breakfast buffet, in summer also in our beautiful garden. We also offer snacks, but we do not have a restaurant. There is no need for a...

This is a great place for those looking for a more authentically central European experience. The family that owns/manages has been here for way over 100 years and take great pride in the 17 room property. Everything may not be new, but it is good repair and impeccably clean. We stayed here in 2015 and booked again for this 2016...

Hotel Jäger is a small, family run Art Nouveau hotel in the 17th district of Vienna with easy access to tram and train. From and to the centre takes a mere 10-15 mins and is a fraction of the taxi costs that may take 25-30 mins and cost 30 Euros or more depending on traffic. If you are on a...

When my wife and I were planning our 10-day stay in Vienna in early September, we were looking for a cosy place with a personal touch that would make us feel at home. And when we first considered the Jäger family hotel, we were pretty sure that this was the kind of place that would be right for us, although...

My third time to stay here and it never disappoints. Friendly helpful staff, comfortable and immaculately clean rooms, superb breakfasts and a lovely relaxed feel to the place. Easy access into the city centre by tram and convenient also for Hernals S-Bahn station. Highly recommended

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
