The location of this hotel, right on St. Stephen's Square cant be bettered in Vienna. The room was large and bright, and the staff friendly. Good breakfast included. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants nearby and the Metro is right across the square. The location is one Metro stop or a 15 minute walk from the City Air Terminal.

A great location right at the centre of the city - great value. I was with a friend and we were both given small, inward facing single rooms without natural light. This wasn't a problem though as we spent most of our time exploring the city. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We were greeted warmly and our room was available upon our arrival. Thereafter we were greeted enthusiastically and by name each time we walked through the hotel entrance. Breakfasts were ample, and the food in both of the restaurants was quite good. The location is superb, and overall this was a fine budget hotel. Room rates were increased for the...

We had the exact same experience as other reviewers below: the Royal overbooked and when we arrived sent us to another hotel. As we had seen reviews beforehand saying this hotel had a habit of doing this, we also called the day before to confirm the booking and let them know we would be arriving around 5 pm. We were...

We stayed at the Royal Hotel during the week before Easter 2006. We were allocated a fourth floor room which was spacious with interesting decor - part retro, part sixties - but the pictures we had seen on websites were accurate (we suggest that if they upgrade the decor they could charge much more for this perfect location). The beds...

I met terrible experience with this hotel. I noticed that I would get to the hotel around 23:00 late in night and also made reconfirmation by phone with a lady in reception of this hotel one day before check-in date. However there was not a room for me and they said " Fully booked, sorry. You can not stay at this...

I stayed in this hotel 3 or 4 times because of the great location (very close to the Stephansplatz and other attractions). It's rated as a 4 star hotel, but I would give it 3 stars. It's a good tourist class hotel with spacious rooms and excellent breakfast. However, especially the last time I was not too happy with the...

Great location, right around the corner from Stephens Dom, and a U-Bahn station less than 30 meters from the entrance. Don't know what all the bi&^*ing's about: great staff, although it obviously helped me to speak with the staff in German as opposed to those who didn't (maybe that's where the problems lie?). Rooms are small, but clean with cool...

We stayed at the Royal hotel in Vienna at the end of a fabulous holiday in Europe. We had been on a Mediterranean cruise, and thought that anything after that would be an anti climax. We were wrong. The Hotel is not only superbly located, the staff and management went out of their way to look after us. Thet were...

I was at this hotel a few times for one night only, and in those occasions I did not have any problems. However, when I spent 10 days there I had to repent of my choice. It was summer, and although the hotel boasted it had air conditioning it was working only in the lobby and restaurant, the rooms had...

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
