Let's begin with some objective data: the metro is a five minute walk away, as is Café Ritter, definitely a worthy instance of the Viennese institution of "Kaffeehaus," and even the museum quarter and Kunsthistorisches Museum can easily be reached on foot (or by metro). I cannot assess "value for money", but we found Kugel a welcoming, pleasant place--not one...

Me and my gf stayed for one night this october. The hotel is located near the center, near high street with plenty of shops and bars/restaurants. The room was clean and had everything one can need. The breakfast was very good. Plenty of choices. For the price i got what i expected, i can only recommend!

Once again I have had an excellent stay at the Kugel! I was allowed to check in a bit early, the staff gave me some excellent tips on local wine festivals, and I found a few more great places within walking distance to sample local craft beer and good food. My other destinations were easily reachable via the tram or...

I guess this is the kind of place you either love or loath. The impression I got was of a faded, worn, overheated, stuffy place that hasn't had any money spent on it for ages. My room was covered in red plush and had a large iron-framed 4-poster bed that filled the small room so much I couldn't actually open...

Dear Double, why did you suffer in silence over four long days when you easily could have asked for a different room, more to your liking ? Room decorations differ as does personal taste, and for providing our guests with the perfect match we offer an array of colours and designs, from spartanic Japanese to lush oriental, your happiness is...

i simply loved being with them. very friendly. and kind of old fashion manners that make the experience very human. very recommended and different from most of chain-hotels around the globe. I will return

My wife & I spent 5 nights at the Hotel Kugel and can highly recommend this family operated hotel. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious with a canopy bed. The included breakfast was delicious and ample enough to start our day. The hotel is centrally located on tram and bus lines, and easy walking distance to the museum quarter...

Yes, the tram rattles by the hotel every 15 minutes. Yes, the shower stall was so small I bumped the faucet handle every time I turned around. But these were minor inconveniences for a hotel that has 1) a great location right next to the tram to city center, which is only a 15-20 minute walk if you choose to...

Comfortable and centrally located family run hotel. We had a lovely 3rd floor room facing the street. The tram ran along the street but we didn’t find noise to be a problem, nights were quiet. Breakfasts were ample with all you could want. Christina and Johannes were very warm and helpful with any questions we had and offered some interesting...

A pleasant, old school, family owned hotel in central Vienna. Opulent breakfast, comfortable rooms, central location and pleasant staff. Good for travelers who wish to avoid impersonal and artificial feel of hotel chains.

Friendly hotel with good breakfast. Easy to walk or get the number 49 tram into centre. Some nice bars in the vicinity for evening drinks. Note that there is no aircon (not surprising for price range) which can make rooms hot when temperature in the 30's like they were when we visited. Lots of great advice for things to do...

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
