Chose this hotel for the room size, parking was difficult on the street, then had to search for the entry door. Room accomodated the 4 of us, clean, spacious... lots of stairs to room but there was an ancient lift.. pipes woke us up earlier than when we wanted to wake up, good location, close to public transportation

On a solo trip to Vienna, I zeroed in on this hotel based on research on Trip Advisor... Excellent location in the centre of the city, with easy access to trams and bus services ( and walking distance to Town Hall (Rathaus) and Parliament , this is an old hotel tucked away in one of the inner lanes in central...

Dear Guest! I am very grateful for your wonderful comments about Pension Lehrerhaus. Your compliments are a great help for new guests and also for my staff and myself. During November I completely refurbished the Pension which celebrates the 110th aniversary this year. In the old days since 1906 Pension Lehrerhaus was a home for teachers who studied in Vienna....

This was a nutty place. It's very interesting though. It has lots of core doors and stairways and bathrooms on the hallways. I don't know what it used to be, but it's fine for a couple of days stay. It was very clean and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. It was also quiet because the room faced a courtyard. There...

I stayed here with my family last weekend. The hotel is within a building which also contains apartments and is old but very well designed to be wonderfully cool I summer. The building feels like a film set. We had 2 rooms - one with a private bathroom and one without. Both were lovely. The shared bathrooms are spotless. The...

Hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the Rathaus underground station, making it very convenient for the rathaus, parliament and the Museum Quarter. There are a lot of restaurants in the near vicinity, as well as small supermarkets to buy supplies in. The room we had was large but getting a bit tired. There were no tea/coffee making facilities,...

It is only 2 blocks from tram #2, which takes you to the Ringstrasse, so that you can get off at the museums, emperor's palace, Belvedere palace, Opera, etc. They have an elevator (after you walk up the main stairs). Next door is a grocery store that has fresh produce, wine, liquor, and generally anything you might need (except ice)....

I stayed here with five friends for a Weihnachtsmarkt long weekend break. The six of us were in three separate rooms in various parts of the property. The first time we all tired to find each other culminated by accidentally ending up backstage in a theatre! Bizarre! This pension is very well located for the Rathaus, Ring and public transport....

This is a very nice hotel, placed in an ideal location, and, by Vienna standards, at a reasonable cost - indeed, charging a fraction of what other establishments situated quite close cost. Receptionists very courteous and helpful. Room spacious and clean, and strong wi-fi signal. Breakfast option quite useful. My only criticism is that the room was decidedly on the...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
