As a whole, we enjoyed our stay at Der Wilhelmshof though we had expected a bit more of a 4 star hotel. It is not right in the city centre but it's within 8-10 minute walk from the Danube and crossing the bridge we could easily find ourselves next to nearly all city attractions. The room was quite spacious, divided...

We enjoyed our stay. I was there with my two kids. Breakfast here was nicer than our previous hotel (we're doing a lot of travel and our last hotel breakfast was at the World's Most Beautiful Cafe in Budapest the previous weekend. This breakfast had less choices, but they were better tasting). The room was about a half step above...

My secretary booked it off the recommendations in tripadvisor. She did not quite see that its a "trip" to the business center and this adds to the costs. For me, the incl breakfast has further disadvantages, fiscal charges. Its used by middle income affluent tourists from East of Vienna, nearly exclusively. Me wearing a tie, only chap, looking funny! Breakfast...

Really pleasant, comfortable hotel, great for a weekend or short visit to Vienna. Warm, spacious rooms, decent buffet breakfast, friendly staff on reception happy to help with city info and maps. Don't stress about the location either, yes it is just outside the city centre, but in terms of transport connections it's perfect - 2 mins walk from Prater station...

The hotel is not in the centre but it is only only 3 stops on the U-bahn (~10mins) to St Stephens cathedral. The hotel is a few minutes walk when you take exit Heinstrasse I think it is called. U-bahn is great to use as you can get to most places quickly. The Prater train station areas though is quite...

Very good hotel, makes refreshing change from buisness chain hotels. Nicely appointed rooms and every working smoothly. Good free wifi, varied breakfast. Only possible area of improvement was the coffee.

Every year for the past 10 years I have brought a group of law students from Brisbane, Australia, to stay at this hotel in Vienna to participate in a student mooting competition. The rooms are affordable, clean and comfortable; the hotel has a lovely, friendly, 'home away from home' feeling; the staff are friendly and accommodating; the breakfast is amazingly...

The main concern would be inexperience and language issues show by the staff while handling certain issues. Also when I compare with other places I have stayed in my trip, I feel some operational things can be improved.... For eg: Wifi passwords and bathroom slippers can be offered at the time of check in, the guests need not have to...

Middle destination of our three cities trip. Had said how long we were married and that we didn't have kids in tow for once. We were given a free upgrade to an "art suite". Lovely long room, very comfortable with minibar, free wi-fi, underfloor heating in bathroom. Breakfast rooms were bright and clean, with a huge selection, too numerous to...

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
