I stayed here for 4 nights and loved my stay - the hostel is comfortable, clean, and has a great vibe. I especially found the bartender Matt super helpful and friendly, he answered all my questions about Vienna and was really patient with some of the more belligerent patrons! We very much enjoyed his company.

Hostel Ruthensteiner was by far one of my favorite hostels! The staff were very helpful and friendly, answered all questions and also gave great recommendations. The hostel provided musical instruments such as guitars and a piano, which provided a wonderful atmosphere! I would highly recommend this place, and would definitely come here again if I return to Vienna!

I stayed here once 3 years ago and remember the hostel was good, but this time around it was even better. They've really thought of everything here (great kitchen, free computers and printing, wonderful reccomendations and a cozy common area and bar) and it has now become one of my favourite hostels.

The staff were incredibly friendly and the hostel looked newly done and was very clean. It's a short walk from a train station and metro, and a shuttle to the airport also runs from that station. It had a full kitchen and lots of comfortable communal spaces. My only criticism would be to post the hours for the kitchen somewhere...

Thanks so much for this lovely review, Velouaaj! I am sorry about the problem with the kitchen. We do keep the kitchen closed from 11:30pm until 8am in order to keep the house peaceful (noise from the kitchen has woken people up in the past). The times are posted on the kitchen door, and we try to mention it at...

I've visited this hostel in December 2015. I have to say that staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Since I'm also working in the hostel, I can say that we got all the necessary information. They gave us a lot of useful advice and explained us how to get to places we wanted to visit. Location is also pretty good,...

The Ruthensteiner Hostel occupies two buildings. The main one have all the facilities, the reception, common room, kitchen, bar and many more. Our room was literally across the street in the second building. There are more rooms and a small garden/patio. The room itself was small but clean and had everything we've needed - beds, table, bathroom. All in all...

Really nice place all-round. Location is excellent. It's only a few minutes walk from Westbahnhof, which has great transport links. Hostel was nice and cozy, with a lovely little bar. Great for meeting other travelers. They've got a piano and guitars too, so it's a lively place at times! Staff were amazing! They were all really friendly and had great...

Very nice hostel with a warm and cosy atmosphere and wonderful staff. The hostel is located within walking distance of "Westbahnhof" (approx. 5 minutes), the city centre can by reached by metro quite easily. Our room was very big and even had its own kitchen and washing machine (it was actually more like an appartment even though we'd only booked...

In general people working there are great, rooms are tidy. There are musical instruments for guests to play (piano, guitars, even accordion). Free apple cinnamon tea in the evening, info deck with some free events around the city and tips for people who visit Vienna first time. There is a bar in the hostel but the beer in shops nearby...

This hostel is really easy to find coming from the Westbahnhof Train Station. There is also a subway station here as well. It is very easy to get to the city center by taking the subway, only 2-3 stops away. The area is not busy once it is dark, so the rooms are quiet but walking alone as a female...

Hey there mdzieg, thank you for this lovely review! I just want to quickly address your safety concerns. Vienna is in fact one of the safest cities in Europe, and probably the world - you can feel 100% secure walking around our neighborhood, or any other part of the city for that matter. I'm a woman, and I've been wandering...
