The hotel is embedded within an apartment block. The ethos is to make it feel like home, so the lounge has just that atmosphere. Complimentary tea and cake are on a self-serve from 4 to 6pm. Drinks are available until late, and it is a pleasure to sink into an easy chair by the fire with a glass of something...

The Altstadt is a fantastic hotel with quiet and spacious rooms, decorated with interesting art work throughout, and friendly staff. The hotel is located around 10 minutes walk from the Museum Quarter, and about 20 minutes walk from the very centre of town. Breakfast is served in a lovely series of bright and airy rooms, and the food is of...

We booked for three nights. We arrived in the late afternoon and entered a charming entrance and took the lift to reception. We were warmly welcomed at reception and checked-in quickly and efficiently. We were then shown around the public areas, a lovely sitting room with a small bar and the breakfast area. Then taken to our room and shown...

I loved the combination of the charming old architecture and the modern, colourful art. Staff was very kind and helpful, breakfast was delicious and also healthy and the view from my large nice room was bright and lovely.

I booked this little gem through Mrandmrssmith website and I wasn't disappointed. It was the perfect balance between the luxury of a boutique hotel vs great value for money (120£ per night) but more importantty we felt very much at home away from home. a few pros and cons to highlight : PROS : - breakfast (included) : exceptional. Very charming place well decorated. All the rooms are different but equally beautiful. The location is really near the museums and the center of the city. Staff is really kind and smiling. Beautiful place to stay in Vienna.

I have lived in Europe 6 months prior to my stay at Altstadt, and can confidently say that it is may favorite hotel in the continent. I really enjoyed a change of the pace from the same old hotel experience in other cities. Though the hotel is not in the touristy city center, I enjoyed the hotel's neighborhood far more...

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins.
