After staying in the Altstadt, Vienna it is safe to say it was the perfect trip to Vienna! The staff were excellent and the rooms and designs throughout the building were engaging and exciting. As we walked through the halls to find our room we were thrilled to find out what designs were to come next. Everything worked together to...

Picture this: a plane departs Melbourne airport at 3.00pm and we've been awake for nine hours already . . . fly to Bangkok (another ten hours), wait for four hours, then fly to Vienna (another 11 hours). Now it's a bit after 5.00am, we've been awake for 34 hours and the Austrian sun is about to rise . . ....

Before we even arrived the reception staff had been extremely helpful with booking meals over Christmas (they met our brief perfectly) and a car to collect us from the airport. We wanted to stay somewhere which reflected Vienna: the old, the new, the art, the warm hospitality, the 'wow' factor. This was 'spot on' for a relaxing Christmas break, with...

A beautiful hotel, perfect service and friendly hosts. A 15 minutes walk to the Hofburg palace. The hotel is located in an upcoming, trendy part of the city. Breakfast with plenty choice of whatever you would like. This is a place to revisit!

We spent three days at the Alstadt towards the end of November (first snow of the year fell) and also towards the end of a European tour. It was the best place ever to end a tour! We had a junior suite, one of the older style rooms (they are all so different) and it was amazing - great bathroom,...

This was a nice find. We stayed here for a weekend in December and can confirm the very friendly service mentioned in the other reviews. First impressions, if you are dragging a suitcase from the nearby metro station, aren't great. Once you have located the hotel, you are confronted by a flight of stairs to reception (or a lift). Once...

Stayed here on a business trip to Vienna. Excellent helpful staff. I stayed in a single room and it was average and small - standard European room - but had everything I needed. Staff was really great and helpful. Breakfast very nice and good coffee. I would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to so many Christmas markets. ;)

Interesting, charming hotel, 10 minutes walk from the museum district of Vienna. We had a small but well appointed room although the bathroom was a bit strange - a smoked glass structure with little privacy. Breakfasts are excellent and the afternoon tea is a nice touch - with a great choice of tea. The staff are friendly and helpful -...

We just enjoyed a fabulous long weekend in Vienna, made all the more special by staying at this lovely hotel. Old world charm in the best most stylish way. I loved this hotel. It's high ceilings. It's wood floors. It's giant windows. For me, it's everything I want a European hotel to be. All the rooms are different. I stayed in the "white suite." It was gorgeous. They have a wonderful breakfast that's served in a beautiful room that doubles...

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
