We stayed 3 days at Hotel Alstadt and found it to be a most enjoyable experience. The local area is interesting and away from the hectic tourist precincts. It is only a 5minute walk to Ringstasse. Our room was a generous size with plenty of space and storage for luggage. Bathroom was tiny but washbasin located in room created more...

We recently stayed at the Altstadt for 6 nights. We found it to be a boutique hotel of exceptional quality. The staff are first class as regards helpfulness and competence. Our room (junior suite) was exactly as shown on the website - spacious, comfortable and individually-decorated with a very nice bathroom. The breakfast buffet was of a very high standard...

Don't let the entry put you off. This place is great. The driver pulls up to what looks like an apartment building. No doorman, no valet, no hotel lobby. Just some strange art on the walls of the entry and a sign that says to go upstairs to the reception. So we take the elevator up, looking at each other...

First - this is the best location in Vienna - next to the museumsquartier and walking distance to the Naschmarkt. The hotel itself is fantastic, with unique, quirky, interesting art throughout. The suite we had was a great size, even with a grand piano and very comfortable. Top marks for breakfast and they even offer afternoon tea and cakes. However,...

I booked this hotel for three nights after reading so many positive reviews and seeing some lovely looking photos of refurbished, modern rooms. Prices seemed affordable as well. People used language like "quirky", "boutique", and "unusual" to describe the Altstadt, but there was very little to indicate what was to come. When we arrived, it was late, and we enter...

Dear theru55ian, Thank you for taking the time to write this extensive review about your very short stay of less than an hour at the Hotel Altstadt. We highly appreciate your comments to keep on improving our service – especially as you are remarking that we did not offer what was advertised online. As you quote, we describe the hotel...

We just returned from a three day stay at The Altstadt. We arrived from Budapest having stayed at The Corinthia which is a fantastic hotel. I have always had good luck with my fellow Trip Advisors' reviews but this time was different. I'm not sure what the rave reviews are about because there are some really big drawbacks to it...

Dear Natsdaughter2014, thank you for taking your precious time to write a review about your experience in our hotel. We highly value your feedback to keep on improving our amenities and services. This hotel was charming. The art was lovely around the hotel and the staff were very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and the afternoon tea. It was convenient, quiet, and air conditioned. I would stay there again when next in Vienna.

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
