This guesthouse is situated close to Vienna's inner city at a busy crossroads. That means that it is easy to get to and fro but should you come from, say, rural Idaho, you might find it a bit noisy. The guesthouse occupies one floor of a residential building. Keep that in mind when searching for the entrance! Rooms and rates...

Nothing special but a good, CLEAN, place to stay. Old building, in front of a street, a bit noisy, but if you want it just for a night or two, its fine. Not a four star hotel, but great for its price!

This hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the centre of Vienna and close to both train and tram stops. The hotel itself is just a floor of a larger building and although there is a sign on the street you can easily miss it so make sure you have good directions. My room was reasonable, the...

Pension Excellence is a great place for the big group of friends or big family that needs several rooms. Every evening after whole day in the city our company of 12 could have late tea party in the lobby/breakfast area; very friendly staff let us use tea pots, cups, utensils. Breakfast was good, coffee/cappuccino - excellent. Clean rooms. Computers with...

The hardest part was actually locating the Hotel. GPS said it was within 50m but physically hard to find as only a nondescript front door with a relatively small sign above, very hard to see with all the traffic. Having found the front door it was a equally hard to find reception again a small sign pointing up the steps...

A bit outside center you find this Pension at 3'rd floor in a place you would not search for a hotel. Rather simple rooms - bed is OK - pillow not so good. I was there in winter - and no heating problem. But no A/C in the room. The WiFi functions OK in the lobby/breakfast area - but not...

Main problem with this hotel is its location. Away from the town center and next to a main road, which is EXTREMELY noisy. There was no A/C in the room - hotel is advertised as having ''general A/C'' on booking.com, but the only place they had A/C was in the dining room. Our room faced onto the main street and...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
