Detailed Reviews
This is a nice and quiet place close to the beach (warnings about jellyfish) nearby the town and in the second row apart from the mainroad.
The motel offers rooms in a 2storey building with hot shower and aircon. Just opposite is a foodstall located with chinese, malayan food and fresh fish. In the morning opens also one shop.
A busstop is 50m away from the motel. Quite often comes the rapidbus nr.101 to Komtar and Jetty. There is also a 7days unlimited buscard available (at the airportoffice) for RM30,- (information from the manager!). They issue it there, by checking with your passport.
That’s worth the money, as you have to pay always the exact fare to the driver!

I had been there last week without any plan. We arrived penang at sunday night, quiet late actually.
First, I suggest to my husband to stay at naza talyya hotel as they offered cheap price, but there are no empty room for us, so we searched nearest hotel, and we found this old fashioned hotel. Anyway, we little bit surprised as the price that night was cheap even in weekend. And the room is so big. Together with us is my uncle and his wife and less 1 year old son. This motel is very close to the beach, but we're not going there. The beach very clean.
For room, it is large for us, 4 people can sleep very well with extra bed, price RM140
we got aircond, hot water, fan, tv, mineral waters 4, towels, shampoo. The room have carpet and it is clean. We also got small refrigerator. Our room location is at the 2nd floor and at the corner, so we can see beaches, chinese private swimming pool, and restaurant that is very close to the hotel.
We used our own car so we didn't need public transport, and we park safely our car at the parking lot.
On sunday morning, we went to pasar pagi, very close to our motel, it takes 5minutes by driving a car, and from motel main road, take right and drive to the mosque, I bet this is malay place. Suprisingly, you can buy many foods with very cheap price.
The best thing about motel, I can here the old guard-man plays the old music at night and it is like living in 70s life.
**I'm sorry, my english is not so good, but I try my best to share my experience with people out there :)

Walk into Sri Pantai and you will feel like you have stepped back into a Jins Shamsuddin/Jefri Zain Bond movie. It has a genuine old-world charm and character that most modern hotels lack. Staying here feels like going back to a Penang of long ago, rather like visiting relatives in days gone by. It is very basic, but clean and comfortable. There is not much to do but relax and chill.

Looking for a good deal, look no further. The hotel is located not too far from the city, you will need to get there via taxi. The rooms are large and air conditioned. The furniture is a little old but considering the price, I am not complaining. It is located next to a hawker center, it is very convenient to get food. It is also right beside the sea!
It has a very laid back feel to the place.
There is free wifi.

The room is big with very nice sea view, Surprisely cheap and helpful staffs.
You can also ask for late check-out if the room is available. Breakfast even basic for you can request the second set if you like. Perfect location. Will recommend eveyone wanting to visit Penang for sure.

Have been to Sri Pantai many times and because it is hidden from the main road - often gets over looked. It is a lovely little motel hidden behind the foodcourt next to the Chinese Swimming club. Super cheap with massive rooms that are clean and decent. Sometimes no other guests around except for Malaysian public holidays or weekends.
Has a beautiful garden that opens right onto the Tanjuh Bunga beach. Sunset is wonderful here. Has this feel of the 1950s.
Room stay comes with breakfast in a very cool diner. The old ladies will bring you fried eggs with toast and homemade marmalade.
Try to get the sea viewroom - truely relaxing. Also the showers are like jets! really, really nice and a gem of Penang

We found Sri Pantai via online and booked by anking in deposit. Found the place using our trusty gps and checkin in.
The room we had was spacious. With some view of the sea. The outlook of the room maybe outdated abit but we didn't mind that much. We had aircond, tv, hot water, a tub and pletty of room for the young one to run and jump all over the room.
I has an emergency and needed to use the net and surprise surprise. This small motel provides wifi for free :) a real life saver.
Next morning ,we had breakfast at the hotel small garden overlooking the beach. It was the simplest breakfast (eggs and toasts) but having it at the garden by the beach is beyond words..
Will come back again when we're in Penang. :)
