I just returned from a week's holiday with my boyfriend at the Tamarind in April 2015. We had the most fantastic in Barbados and absolutely loved the island but unfortunately we were disappointed with the Tamarind. The rooms, location, food and beach were all great...More
We have just returned from another exceptional two week stay at Tamarind. We also stayed last year. We have to say that the excellent standards have been maintained and exceeded this year

We had 9 days at tamarind at the beginning of March. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and I would highly recommend both Barbados and the Paynes Bay area.
As regards the hotel I'd definitely recommend it depending on the price you pay! As some...More

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Tamarind and I must say that we enjoyed it immensely. This is a great hotel for families but I think a couple might have found the large number of children (about 100 over Easter) overwhelming....More
Just go for bed and breakfast ( which is really good - catering for all tastes) then go out for dinner. Obviously you could pay and have a meal at the hotel but you won’t be tied into eating there every meal time.

Hi my husband is a big smoker and I am a moderate smoker but even though all Barbados hotels have a non smoking room policy even on patios or balconies it does not feel horribly restrictive. We were in a ground floor room at the southern end of the property ( right beside The House and Daphne's restaurant. There is lovely comfortable seating right outside the rooms right by the pool bar and we were provided with ash trays whilst sitting there consuming copious amounts of wine. In fact there was a gentleman smoking as he stood at the corner of the bar and although that surprised me no-one else or even the bar staff objected. Maybe we were lucky not to have any smoker-haters around us but it was not a problem. You can also buy cigarettes at the petrol station directly opposite the hotel.

Have stayed here 4 times. Hotel dinner meals are quite dear, but it all depends on your lifestyle . £100 plus for 4 depending on drinks. Plenty of local restaurants with walking or short bus ride. Local busses are frequent and $2 gets you anywhere on the island. You can go for top end restaurants and spend £40-100 per head. Local Bajan restaurants in walking distance £20-30 each
