My husband and I go to this hotel for coffee and meals on a regular basis. We only live 12 miles away and we decided to come and stay for an anniversary treat. Having read some of the reviews from last week I was nervous to say the least, but we came with open minds. We arrived at 11.30am knowing...

We booked on a special Sunday night deal and were delighted to be allocated a superb room on the 4th floor with a balcony overlooking the beach. The hotel is elegantly furnished and still retains some of its former Art Deco styling.

We thought this was going to be a disaster - lots of mucking around with with phone calls to see if the room was ready - so went to the bar to meet a friend and what a disaster - sat in the window where all the seat were worn - took forever for the staff to serve us -...

Stayed here many times over the past ~20 years. It is tired, and well past its sell by. The only redeming feature is the Eastern European guy who is front of house at breakfast who is breaking his balls to ensure the guests have a great experience. Power to him - he deserves a better stage. The 'wifi' only works...

Called in here on a Sunday afternoon after a Congress theatre concert. Sat at a table and waited to be served (joke!). Eventually joined a queue of people waiting to be served at the bar. There were 5 staff at the bar steadfastedly ignoring all the customers, all very busy either chatting or writing furiously. One of the customers waiting...

Room was a little tired, clean but dimly lit, partly due to the view of the fire escape. We expected more from a four star hotel. The room information said the bar shows major sporting events and receptionist advised us there were TVs in the bar; we were pleased as we wanted to follow Wales v England world cup rugby....

Small things matter, perhaps its just that when everything else is right the focus tends to be on the detail. We have reason to be in Eastbourne every eight weeks or so and where possible stay at the Cavendish. It’s a good hotel, reasonably priced and conveniently located; it ticks all the boxes, however something has changed. They have just...

Whilst the décor of this hotel itself was nice and the facilities were clean, it is extremely overpriced and the staff were rude, unhelpful and arrogant which was the biggest disappointment. Our Breakfast Room Service request was not collected from our door on the first evening and when calling Concierge the next day, there was no apology or acknowledgement of...

We arrived to a dirty stained cigarette strewn red carpet up the dirty steps to the hotel. When we eventually got into our room it was dusty, dirty, and very very hot. We called housekeeping and the manager who viewed the room. I was told by housekeeping they only cleaned the rooms once a month!!!!!!!!!! They only dusted before guests...

Oh dear oh dear.the beds were so hard neither of us got an ounce of sleep. The pillows were so thin and lacking in any kind of support they might as well not been used. We arrived on the Saturday and checked in.our one night cost us £150.For this kind of money I was expecting a bit of luxury. I...
