We recently spent two nights here on a dinner, b & b basis with the Winter Warmer offer. We usually stay at this time of year but sadly had to cancel in 2020 for obvious reasons! Unfortunately one of our friends who should have come with us died at the end of November 2020, so we took his wife this time and she loved it. Everything was just as good as before- comfortable rooms ( we were given Superior, can recommend room 12), plenty of hot water, everything very clean, excellent food and service. If anyone has any doubts about staying in a hotel during the pandemic, you have nothing to worry about at the Dunoon- go for it! You won’t be disappointed.

As we were with a tour group I did not expect the excellent service which we received. The room was clean and comfortable with a super shower. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food superb. All in all a very pleasant stay.

I really would have liked to have given this hotel a better rating than 3 stars but there are some things that would stop me returning for a second visit. Firstly the room was very disappointing. It was TINY. Each single bed was pushed up against the wall - the lighting was poor - and the bathroom was minute. We did have a decent shower and the hot water was almost instant but no way did it make up for the lack of space. Poor drawer space and the coat hangers were, mostly, the wire ones you get from the dry cleaners. It was a bedroom you had not desire to linger in. The window looked out onto a back courtyard with scaffolding and rubbish. The glass in the window was constantly condensed up. If I was paying close to £200 per night for the room I would want a refund. The breakfast on the 5 nights we were staying was hit and miss. Mostly served on near cold plates or plates too hot too handle. Much of the cooked breakfast was just shy of luke warm. Buffet was reasonable. The dinner, however, was very good and plenty of it served in 4 courses. The vegetables served separately were always the same.....peas, carrots and broccoli. I really have no complaint about the dinner menu. Pre-dinner drinks in the bar area was served by rather a surly bar man who added nothing to the pleasure of being in his bar. To sum up......it was a rather OKish hotel in a pleasant enough area of Llandudno but not, in my opinion, worth the money to stay there.

Room Tip: Hotel parking is at a premium to get a space and street parking is very tight too.

We were part of a tour group and were extremely pleased with the level of everything here - often tour groups can get relegated but certainly not here. The warm welcome set things off in the right direction and having a superior room was worth it for the extra space & comfort. The shower was a very nice large walk in shower. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only minor negative was the size of the tv - about the size of my computer monitor! The view out the front isn't much as it is just looking out over the wide street but you are only a short walk from the sea front. Service throughout our stay was remarkable - very friendly and very swift. The meals were first class and, for someone like me who often prefers to avoid hotel restaurants if possible, this one was a joy to eat in. I like the positive attitude they have to selling their wines. They simply put a mark up on decent bottles of wine rather than the usual hotel trade method of quadrupling the price they pay. It is another example of just how customer friendly this hotel tries to be. If you are planning to go to Llandudno then you could not do better than to stay here.

Staff were lovely but breakfast was really slow. They did apologise but we were in a rush. Popular with the older crowd. There was however only one iron in the hotel so had to wait for it to be finished with. There were no plugs by the bed. The bathroom was lovely and location was good.
