Nice hotel, clean and spacious. Lovely comfortable beds and great shower. Only real let down was the car parking situation - for such a large hotel, there is a tiny car park, they have an overflow one which you can drive to and walk back (only a few mins) but if you aren’t from Ipswich and have no idea where you are going it’s a bit of a pain to find. Hooray for Google maps. Bar area was nice but after choosing our cocktails we were then told they don’t make them. Good location - 10 mins or so walk to town centre, 5 mins walk from train station. All in all, good stay and would stay here again.
Very disappointing hotel. We booked through Voyage Prive who usually only use decent hotels so we were very surprised by this one and not in a good way. The hotel was grubby. Every time we sat at a table it hadn’t been cleaned and was sticky/covered in crumbs. Not what you would expect during these times of Coronavirus! Our first evening we chose to have our evening meal at the hotel. The food was ok at best although when my husband’s meal arrived, it was cold. It was returned to the kitchen. When my husband received it back it had clearly been microwaved including the salad items on the plate! We asked for an extra pillow as the one pillow we each had was extremely soft giving no support whatsoever. We were told ‘lots of people have asked for pillows, there is a list so we will have to try to find some!’ That was first thing in the morning. When we returned in the evening we still had no extra pillow, eventually getting one after several reminders, hours later! We had to book a half hour slot for breakfast. When we arrived at said time we were ignored for a good 10 minutes before we were allocated a table. We were then told someone would take our order shortly….. after a further considerable length of time again being ignored we left. We only continued our stay because we had paid ‘up front’ choosing to stay away from the hotel as long as possible each day. The following of Covid Rules were a joke! In the evening when the bar was busy customers were not wearing masks and the same went for the bar staff! All in all a very sub standard hotel with its staff not appearing to know what they were supposed to be doing most of the time. Never again will we use a Pentahotel.…
Cosmopolitan entrance. Bar wasn’t well stocked due to delivery issue but staff were helpful. Restaurant and leisure area were spacious and comfortable - unfortunately there was a clash of loud football and music! Menu was limited but food was good. The main problem encountered was in the bedroom - a funky smell due to a major water leak / damage above a window; noisy air-con but even noisier road side location; feeling EVERY movement on the mattress. We asked to move but there were no other rooms available. Bathroom is modern and compact - should have been cleaner.
The hotel is relaxing and good service by all the young members but breakfast was a shambles. Day 1 - young girl's first day working there and covering breakfast on her own - she was brilliant and handled the complaints well as people were waiting a long time. 2 members of staff chatting at bar (inc the manager) each day. Day 2 - people were walking out not being served, another day with 1 member of the team serving breakfast for the whole hotel. Day 3 - 2 members and they are not coping with serving breakfast. The manager made the excuse of the buffet closed at the last minute and no menu so the waitresses were having to explain each breakfast menu to each person - management awful and needs to be addressed.
My mum and I stayed here on Monday after having a spa day in Ipswich. Never stayed here before and it was even better than expected! The staff were so so welcoming especially the man and new lady on reception, they really made our stay! Food was lovely especially the breakfast, incredibly comfy bed, amazing shower - will definitely be returning! Thank you so much, Bailey & Emma x
