A great location to stay, 10 minutes walk from the centre of Colchester, lots of shops, cafe etc. A visit to the castle is recommended, for children or adults. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

Hotel's Favourite
First time in a Premier and pleasantly surprised. A nicely spaced car park was a good start and the woman on the front desk was very welcoming and friendly. Effortless booking in and we also booked breakfast. The room was extremely clean with basic but solid features. A bath was an unexpected bonus on top of the shower. The curtains made the room impressively dark and on the whole it was also very quiet. The breakfast was freshly cooked and of decent quality and the slightly harassed waiter (other staff off sick) still managed to get back to offer a second go at the cooked option before we moved on to the continental buffet options. Checkout was also very straight forward. Overall, pleasantly surprised at how good the experience was and it's highly likely we'll be back for further trips to the area.

visited last weekend. Friendly young lady on reception and felt welcome. However first room given was a family room with 3 beds for just my wife and I. Quickly resolved and moved to a nice double bedded room. Amenities good and room clean and tidy. Wi fi is free or can be upgraded at a cost of £5 per day. However free WiFi barely crawled along at a download speed of around 1 mb /sec. Paid for WiFi crawled up to 9 mb/sec at best. Shame that wi fi let the place down!

I stayed here for one night to attend my work Christmas party in the town centre. The hotel is a short walk from Colchester North Railway station. I arrived at 1-30 pm and my room was already so I left my bag there. The staff were all very friendly and my room was very clean as was the bathroom/WC. I had no issues at all and had a very good stay.

On arrive we we checked in without issue, the room was adequate but the bathroom could do with regrouting. The next day we were informed we had booked two rooms (we hadn't) and been charged for the first night, the staff argued with us about this and we had to email them evidence that we've only one booking which we'd pre-paid. They then promised us the manager would refund us on Monday (since apparently there are no managers available on the weekend), and contact us to confirm the refund. The manager didn't do this and we resorted to issuing a chargeback on our credit card. The rooms use an ordinary key not electronic which makes the security questionable, there is no CCTV in the hallways and from the smell of them other guests were smoking in their rooms. The restuarant is adequate but was having supply chain issues which showed in the food selection. The only positives are that the parking is good and the rooms are pretty quiet.
