Stayed here 22-04-17 the building itself is beautiful with lots of lovely original plaster work and ornate windows etc . The entrance and reception area is very grand yet warm and welcoming. Our room was very clean and of a good size with a huge bed, it was also very comfortable. The linen and towels where of a really good...

Hotel quite nice however very dated and tatty round the edges. Restaurant menu very limited choices, 3 steak dishes, approx 3 fish dishes, 1 beef burger, 1 vegetarian & 1 chicken dish. We went on the "golden ticket" and was given an even smaller version of the menu. On our second night there they had ran out of a starter,...

Arrived at this hotel and hour after we were meant to check in and room wasn't ready. When we got to our room there was feisies on the toilet seat and the sink was blocked with sick. The rooms are run down and dated and the swimming pool is more like a communal bath With Dirty towels scattered about. The...

We booked a small double room which included breakfast. As it was a cheaper room I wasn't sure what to expect but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Good nights sleep had by both of us. Picked up wi-fi in the room fine. Tea tray and kettle in the room with some biscuits provided which were tasty. Room...

Arrived at the hotel on a Friday afternoon to a full car park, cars are parked up and then blocked in by others. You leave your keys at reception for staff to move them around if required. The hotel itself has quite a charm to it with lots of character. Our room was ok. A small, double bed which was...

Lovely old hotel with quite grand staircase and beautiful window on first landing. Absolutely central in the town with shops, cathedral and museum within a few minutes. Castle within easy walking distance. Rooms very clean and with all amenities - towel rail red hot and bathroom goodies refurbished daily. The meals were very good.

Having eventually located the hidden hotel car park, I was informed that it was full and that I would have to find long stay parking elsewhere at my own expense. The grumpy reception staff then told me that the car park is 'first come first served' although there is no mention that it would be this limited on the website,...

My stay was overall pleasant and trouble free. Staff were friendly and the place was quiet during the night. All was going great until the morning. I was woken at 9am by housekeeping who just let themselves into the room. This happened three times in the morning between 9am and 11. I was in town for a party the previous...

Fantastic place. I visited with my two sisters, one of whom was in a wheelchair for a couple of days for a birthday treat. We were upgraded from a triple room to a suite which was fantastic and accommodated the wheelchair as the suite was huge. The staff could not have done more for us and were very friendly and...

Very friendly & warm welcome at reception. Room was perfect, immaculately cleaned & the wi-fi worked without any problems. Breakfast was delicious & vegetarian sausages cooked to order. All the staff were really lovely but a special mention for Alistair at breakfast who was charming & made us laugh. Hotel is in a great location, short walk from the station...
