We have just returned from the Royal Glen...our third visit this year. We always stop for three nights on our way back from Cornwall, this time we treated ourselves to the special offer four for three nights, but with the weather being so nice decided to stay an extra night. We love the Royal Glen (and so do our dogs!) friendly staff,a...

We only came here for a cream tea but chose The Royal Glen as its small, charming public areas have the feel of the personal rooms, of a grand country house. We had tea on the upper lawn, served in a silver style tea pots and creamer, and a white linen tray cloth and with a view between the trees,...

We went here to eat and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It has a great history. The hotel is set away from the front. The staff were wonderful along with the food. We were so full after three courses that there wasn't room for the cheeseboard which was included in the price along with tea or coffee. It's wonderful.

Great location. If you are interested in Queen Victoria it's a must. Decor a bit dated. I can only speak about the room we stayed in which was Kent. My partner used the swimming pool which he was pleased to say was good. Dinner had to be booked. By the time we arrived and wanted to book for the same...

Thank you for making a review, your feedback is very important to us. I am sorry that you were not offered a sandwich, cheese and biscuits, or cream tea at 2.30 in the afternoon this should have been available to you, thank you for bringing this to my notice. As more visitors are booking bed and breakfast, and leaving booking...

We stayed here on a overnight visit while taking my older children to camp. We had a family room and the staff were so nice and polite and really made us welcome. This hotel is very close to the sandy area of the beach and to the town centre would stay again anytime. Thanks so much our room was lovely...

My husband, son and I stayed at the hotel at the end of July in a family room with en suite called Andrew. This was a lovely bright clean room, very tastefully furnished and decorated. The public areas of the hotel have many references to royalty in pictures and lovely antiques. Its a real little piece of old England but...

Many Thanks for making a review, your opinion is very important to us; we try and change the menu according to any feedback and use seasonal west country produce as much as possible. The menu changes daily because we are still basically a sea side family hotel with visitors staying at least 3 nights. We hope we may have the...

Stayed here recently for a week.Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room (Duke) was very comfortable, well furnished and large. We liked the quietness of the place, the gardens and the hotel's proximity to the sea-front (five minute's stroll). Breakfasts were good and varied, marred by terrible tea and coffee. Probably the biggest plus is that it's in Sidmouth...

Thank you very much for making a review. It can of course gives future visitors a more in depth view. We do try and not over emphasise the past history of the building but do find many are interested and want to know more; and there are some who don't want us to change much at all; so our aim...

We decided to go to this hotel as I had stayed there previously on about 3 occasions, but as I was on my own then I was lucky to get a single room, viz the GARDEN ROOM - which was great! I therefore decided to take a friend with me on 16th July this year.. Apart from the musty smell,...

Thank you for making a review. I was truly sorry that you were disturbed on the Saturday, it mortifies me when a visitor does not behave in a sociable fashion and, I feel very sorry for the member of staff on duty who has to deal with it. I apologise if i did not seem sorry I was mortified. I...

Very nice hotel in a quiet location. We checked in on arrival at 20:15 in the evening which was nice and simple. Rooms were very comfortable and tidy. Unfortunately, we just missed the chance to eat in the hotel, so wondered into Sidmouth for a fish and chip supper. Got back to the hotel at around 22:00 and decided to...

Thank you for making a review. We are sorry that you were unable to book for dinner. As we are off the main thorough fare our restaurant is mainly resident guests; it is advisable to book in advance as all produce is fresh on a daily basis so we cater for the number booked plus a few. Dinner is served...

It's a cute hotel and the best thing about it is the staff who are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Yes the room wasn't five star but for the time of year, on the English Riviera...it's not bad value. Smallish room but everything you'd need. The suites looked nice as we peeped through a vacant door. The whole place is over...
