Last night we celebrated my father's 90th birthday at Wrea Head Hall. There were 18 members of the family gathered together in the Rose room which was a perfect number for the size of room and table, though we could have comfortably taken a few more! The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the first phone call of enquiry to the...

Looked for an overnight stay near Scarborough at short notice. Thanks to Tripadvisor got the last double room for the next day, which spookily turned out to be No.21 in a hotel stated to have 20 rooms! The room was in the roof area with creaky door, but apart from that and lack of advertised view of gardens, was large...

A third visit and earlier impressions confirmed: comfortable public rooms and bedrooms, clear evidence of attention to detail and friendly staff. Steady progress is apparent in refurbishment of the building but that does not intrude. The views are stunning and the setting lovely. We will be back!

I stayed for only one night in one of their 'superior' rooms with double ended bath (looking out over the grounds), super king size bed and separate bathroom. The food was excellent and the atmosphere just as good. They also have an excellent wine list and I'll be going back. If you're look for somewhere to really treat your loved...

Just returned from a 2 night stay. Very impressive building and setting and very friendly staff. We were in an unrefurbished room and the standard of decor, although tired, was actually fine. Room was spacious but two niggles: at this price the room should have a decent shower pressure (very disappointing trickle) and a better quality hair dryer ( even...

We have just returned from the most wonderful weekend at Wrea Head Hotel. The building is stunning, set in beautiful countryside. The terrace was a peaceful place to have morning coffee and early evening drinks before dinner. We were on the B&B plan, however, ended up having dinner on both nights. The food was varied and simply wonderful, cooked to...

We've just returned from a perfect evening in the 1881 restaurant at the Wrea Head Hall Hotel. There really isn't anything that could have been better. A stunning location, warm and friendly staff, elegant surroundings, delicious food and superb value. As locals we can't think of anywhere better!

We had a three night stay at the Wrea Head and were delighted. It is over two years since our last visit to the hotel and I was surprise to see the extent of the changes already made by the new owners. The bedroom we had was super …number 14… it had been tastefully renovated and was very comfortable with...

Those Victorians really did know how to put up an impressive building! This is a fine example of a slightly over the top gothic pile. We stayed on a perfect day in July and the complementary Pimms on the terrace, looking out over the beautiful gardens and farmland beyond was the pefect end to a day driving through the dales....
