We've just returned from a week long trip where we stayed at this hotel. Such an iconic building I felt very privileged to have had the opportunity to stay there. It's very clean but a bit tired. The staff do an excellent job and all we encountered were extremely polite and take pride in their jobs. The food was nice...

I went on a five day trip with David Urquhart, which was very reasonable indeed £159 for 5 days, this including Bed, Breakfast and evening meal, plus 2 day trips out.The hotel is massive and was once the largest hotel in Europe, it stands very magnificently over the bay. Internally, well we were given one of the smaller rooms, which...

Such an amazing building, but has little else going for it. The rooms, we had two twin, dirty carpets, shoddy run down furniture, showers very tiny old. Not just in the room was the furniture and carpets dirty but throughout the hotel. Check in was ridiculously slow, most of the time there was only one person on the desk, and...

We where first given an underground room even though we had paid for a standard. Then given a room on the 4th floor which has never been cleaned in months. I was woken at around 6 every morning by water running through the drain in the bathroom from the floor upstairs so loud it sounded like our bathroom taps where...

Reading other reviews we were lucky when we booked in as we didn't have to wait too long although I could see how it would cause delays. Room very desperately in need of updating, bed not a full size double, the pillow case had blood on it and there was only one set of towels for the two of us....

We booked the grand for easter weekend what a disappointment. The location was spot on but thats as good as it got. After a 2 hour check-in we got our upgraded room which was a joke. Place was dirty stained carpets dirty windows and tatty paintwork. There was bags of dirty laundry piled up outside our room which was supposed...

The hotel is looking 'tired'. The room was an excellent size & had plenty of storage space, with the two comfortable chairs. The view was OKAY we could just see the sea. The room had en suite bathroom & the complete room had 'tired' decor, but it was clean. Our package had evening buffet carvery with a bottle of wine,...

Hotel reception far too small for size of hotel. Causing long queues to check in. First impression of this grand building TIRED. Furnishing worn some with torn fabric. BEWARE!!!!! Of city rooms!!! Can only be discribes as dungeons with the fires of hell heating. No windows or climate control. Saniflo system that sounds like the police helicopter.. Decor needs updating....
