Set in the woods alongside the footpath from Scarborough to Whitby, formerly the railway line. An ideal refreshment stop or base for walking and exploring the area. Also handy for the Cleveland Way only 10 minutes walk away. There's a footpath to the nearby waterfall which Holly, the resident dog will show you without prompting.

I stayed at the Hayburn Wyke Inn for one night during my walk on the 'Cinder Track ' from Whitby to Scarborough. I had not booked in advance and took a chance getting accommodation there. As it happened I was in luck and secured a room for the night. The room was large, clean and tidy with en-suite facilities and...

Came here on a Tuesday lunchtime, so glad it was open. Black sheep ale on tap was great, but I found the food so-so. Homemade steak pie was a bit watery, but the meat was tender. My wife's fish had a crispy batter so she was happy with that. The chips had a good flavour but weren't crispy enough. Salad...

Hubby and I took mum and her partner here for lunch. We chose it because it's in a nice country setting and they welcome dogs and on a previous visit was a very pleasant experience. We ordered our food and after a long wait a girl came over to tell us they didn't have enough jacket potatoes. Mum reordered and...

Situated next to the Cinder Track that runs from Whitby to Scarborough. Lovely setting and oh so quiet. The room was clean and tidy and in keeping with the character of the pub. All staff very polite and helpful. The beer was top notch and well tested. The food was very good for both dinner and breakfast. I love to...

Walked dogs along old railway from Cloughton to Hayburn Wyke. Arrived just before 12 and enjoyed a few black sheep beers along with steak pie and new potatoes. Beer was excellent and the service friendly although being half term it was very busy. We (6 of us) all enjoyed the food and the roaring log fire. Dogs are welcome inside...

A lovely weekend retreat. We were here for a race on the Saturday morning. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly making us feel very welcome and important. The food was very tasty and they bought me yogurt for the Sunday breakfast. I would really recommend this hotel for a peaceful weekend break. The walks are fantastic.

If you are out walking in the area then you will receive a warm welcome here, good beers, sandwiches and cooked meals are served all at reasonable prices. We found this place while on a walk from Ravenscar and it provides a welcome break before the walk back. Having only ever had the beer and sandwich option can’t comment on...

What a nice place to stay, situated in a lovely area. Felt like going back in time with its quirky character, made very welcome and although we didn't eat there in the evening, would highly recommend the breakfast which offers a great selection.

Came looking for the waterfall & started with lunch at this pub. The mussels where excellent. Washed down with a pint of Black Sheep bitter I was set up for the knee wrecker down to the waterfall with directions from the helpful lady working the bar. They also do gluten free bread & are aware of Coeliac requirements. Would recommend...
