Marston Lodge is an impressive Edwardian coast & country house, retaining much of its original charm & style. Built on Exmoor's North Hill, it enjoys unrivaled views from most of its en-suite rooms. Take a 10 min. walk via the lanes into town for the wide selection of quirky shops, pubs & restaurants or head along the coast to the medieval village of Dunster. Follow the South West Coast Path & venture up on to Exmoor National Park (a few steps from our front door!). Let us create a memorable itinerary & guide you to Exmoor's hot spots. Return from an exhilarating day to a log fire, freshly baked cakes or a hearty Home Made supper (Min. 48 hours notice). For those wishing to make life-style changes, arrange a personally tailored Hypnotherapy session or enjoy a Relaxation Treatment in the comfort of the hotel (Min. 48 hours notice required). With welcoming, informal hosts, Marston Lodge combines a home-from-home style atmosphere with precious memories. A tranquil & unique little gem!
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights, on arrival we were greeted by Naomi, she was so lovely and helpful, also makes beautiful cakes!! May I add we ate our slices walking down to the pub. Naomi was very helpful on how to get down to the seafront and into town. The room was clean and comfy with beautiful views of minehead seafront, its very pretty at night with the lights on. The next morning we met Alex and their two dogs, he has so much information on where to go and what to see around the area. Even gave us a map and showed us where to go. I would recommend getting a breakfast, delived to our door and ours was hot, fresh and very yummy. *Alex and Naomi Thank you so much for a realy easy and relaxed stay.

Hotel is situated on a hill and has lovely views. Breakfast is delivered to your room because of COVID. It’s very quiet and peaceful ensuring a good nights sleep. The interior is not modern but very comfortable and unique. Alex is very knowledgeable and provides good information about walks and local countryside. Had a lovley stay thank you Alex and Naomi

Hotel is furnished in line with an old mansion house so doesn't have mod cons but gives it the right atmosphere. Powerful shower and comfy bed. It is located above the town, with stunning views from the small terrace on the first floor. Very good picnic breakfast delivered to the room (due to COVID restrictions) and complimentary home made cake at around 4pm in the afternoon (delicious!). Very quiet peaceful stay - thank you Naomi and Alex.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments; they are hugely appreciated. We are doing our best in unusual circumstances; the feedback has been very positive, thus far, so we shall continue to work in our 'new normal'. It was lovely to host you both for the week & we are looking forward to seeing more of you when you have settled into your new home. Glad the cakes were such a big hit! You know where to come when you're peckish! With our love & best wishes, Alex & Naomi.

We were given a very warm welcome when we arrived at Marston Lodge Hotel. Our room was beautifully decorated and the view of the bay and the hills was quite spectacular. Due to the Covid restrictions our choice of breakfast was served to our bedroom door each morning......and beautifully presented I may add. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Minehead.

This hotel was very welcoming even with the current constraints. Everyone was friendly, in particular Alex who shared his local knowledge willingly, helping us discover the area in the short time we were there. We’d happily stay again.

Lovely hotel, comfy bedroom and great view of Minehead. Ideal location for walking into the Town. Hoists very helpful giving advice of local places to visit and recommendations for restaurants . Very difficult time for them due to Covid 19 but they covered every aspect to keep visitors safe. Special thoughtful things like slices of cake fresh local fruit left for you to help your self after using hand gel, offered daily. Sadly their dinning room lounge and pool room could not be used but all looked very classy and overall a lovely place to stay again in the future.

Last minute break and we were lucky enough to find this very relaxed and 'a little bit quirky' hotel in a lovely part of Minehead with views of the coast and hills from our room and from a very sunny shared balcony. Alex and Naomi were the perfect hosts, very welcoming and making us feel relaxed from the time we arrived to the time we left. Nothing was too much trouble, despite complying with the Covid rules to the letter (very reassuring). They're obviously passionate about Minehead, Exmoor and the surrounding area and happy to share that knowledge with their guests - the 2 mile(ish) walk to Dunster was great and well sign-posted - along the coast, through a bit of countryside and then alongside the river to the centre of this old medieval town. Marston Lodge will definitely be our first choice of stay when we're in the area again. Thanks guys!…

Marston Lodge is situated in a quiet part of Minehead where the rooms offer great views. Our room was very clean and comfortable and a good size to relax in after a days sightseeing. Alex and Naomi were very welcoming and offered great advice on places to visit. Offers of homemade cake for afternoon tea was a lovely touch. Given the strange situation with the virus we felt completely safe and that all hygiene and safety measures were adhered to. We will definitely visit again.

Thank you very much for your lovely review; it was an enormous pleasure to meet you both & we are truly touched by your beautiful comments. Preparing to re-open following the first lockdown was more challenging than anticipated - protecting our guests, as well as ourselves, was our absolute priority - thus your comments about 'feeling completely' safe are very reassuring. (For future guests, please note we sanitise all door handles, surfaces & banisters regularly throughout the day, in addition to temperature checks & hand sanitisation). The homemade cakes are my guilty pleasure! I love making them & to see them disappear so quickly is very satisfying. We sincerely hope to be up & running on all four cylinders again very soon & shall look forward to welcoming you back to Marston Lodge when it is safe to travel. With our very best wishes to you & L, xx Alex & Naomi. xx

We spent the Bank Holiday weekend here . Friendly family run hotel . Covid 19 aware , temp checks on arrival . Breakfast ordered and served to our room , great bacon butties and continental . Very helpful host directing visitors where best to tour or walk . Great views from the main balcony and our room to the old church and 15th cent thatched cottages nearby . It's the opposite end of town to Butlins and steam railway which can be seen in the distance . Clean and tidy room with Wi-Fi , tho better reception on the landing with the balcony view which was more pleasant , and with the lounge currently closed a nice open place to chat to other guests . Good base to visit Exmoor , Dunster , Porlock etc

Alex loves to share his vast local knowledge with our guests & is equally motivated when it is embraced; we shall have plenty more excursions lined up for your next visit! Your comments about our picnic breakfasts & glorious views are greatly appreciated, especially as we have had to alter the way we operate so drastically; we look forward to the day when we can fire on all four cylinders again. It was lovely to share your mutual passion for the sea & we shall endeavour to visit your gallery as soon as it is safe to do so. With our very best wishes, Alex & Naomi.

Stayed for 5 nights in Room 4: superb views of Minehead and the sea- double aspect bay windows. V large and light room. Very comfortable. Great bed. Fantastic power shower. Lovely hotel. Parking absolutely no problem- 2 car parks and on road parking too. Owners very helpful - local top tips/directions/sights. Very friendly. Really nice home made cakes each day! Would 100% stay here again. Can’t understand where any negative comments have come from, definitely the guests not the hotel/hosts!!!

Thank you so much for your lovely review... & for the gorgeous bottle & note that you left for us. That was a lovely gesture & hugely appreciated. I have to say that, in all the years we have been here, I have NEVER walked into such an immaculate room after the guests' departure! It was spotless, & such a shame to strip it all out again, but lovely nonetheless, to see that you had shown so much care & respect during your stay - I wish more visitors could be like you! We are thrilled that you had an enjoyable & comfortable stay with us & benefitted from Alex's local knowledge - he does know what he's talking about (!) & loves being able to guide our guests to the hidden hot spots. It was great to see you embrace it. We would love to see you again soon & shall have plenty more adventures ready for you. With our love & best wishes, Alex & Naomi.
