Southcliff Hotel is a short walk from Folkestone's sandy beach. Folkestone Harbour is a 10-minute walk, and Folkestone Central Railway Station is just half a mile away. The Leas Cliff Hall is only across the road from The Hotel.
Great value, great location, great staff. Rooms are of a low standard but clean and comfy. There is currently no bar but plenty of local pubs and I was visiting the Leas Cliff Hall venue which is opposite anyway. Had a small issue with the room which a delightful Emily rectified pretty much straight away. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am catching a show.

Difficult to rate this one. Firstly, ive changed phones so its not showing my other profile which has over 100 reviews. I chose this hôtel for thé price and was préparéd to expect thé worst, so my expectations were open. I was placed in a room on thé 4th floor. Thé room was small, low celing, with old funiture and fixtures, multicolored textured carpets and an old bathroom with very low water pressure. However. I had a lovely view of thé océan and beachfront, had parking right outside or close by, was treated politely, honestly and respectfully. The room was serviced daily, when I was out and about and was well cleaned and tidied. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The heaters worked well and the windows open wide if required (watch out for gulls and please don't feed them). After a while all the peculiarities and quirks from past decades grew on me. I come from the decades where a hotel like this would have been the place to stay. And in many ways it still is. It's just the same old hotel in a new decade. It's like listening to the eighties on the radio everyday. comforting and familiar from a time gone by. And this is why I so enjoyed my stay here. It's old, like staying at grand mum's house, has great views, a great location, a fair price and honest service. It's not for everyone expecting a modern working hotel. I would not hesitate to stay here again. …

The Southcliff is a standard seaside hotel. In need of a facelift internally in some areas, but comfortable nonetheless. Have stayed here for the last three years for weekend breaks and have been made very welcome. Plus points: Prompt tidying of room and beds made. Good serve yourself breakfast. You won't leave hungry. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Has an elevator. Minus points: Basic amenities - kettle, TV, basic en suite bathrooms. Hotel always seems very warm. In summer you'll need the windows open. Car parking is a lottery, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening - on street parking only using a permit or pay as you park meter. Good luck getting close to the hotel.

Staff friendly and polite. Breakfast is good. Hotel is in dire need of updating. Room was old and tired, threadbare curtains and carpet.Damp on ceiling and dirty walls and skirting. Bathroom basic but no shower mat, door didn’t lock. No hooks on door for robes. Light switch was wrapped around top of door. Lift was dirty and unkempt. Probably a lovely hotel when first built but needs a major revamp. No hairdryer but a bible!!! Wouldn’t recommend

We regularly travel to Folkestone for the art scene, and the sense of place. We always stay at the Southcliff because it is excellent value for money, has good amenities, incredibly helpful staff, and is super convenient for access to the rest of the town.

Hotel is old fashioned with worn out fittings and fixtures everywhere you look. Our room came complete with the last guest’s garbage still in the bins. The edges of the room where the hoover doesn’t reach were filthy and the windows so grimy, you could barely see the debris that had been thrown out onto the parapet by other guests. Bed was okay but attic room so hot that sleep was only barely possible. Noise from other bar patrons below was intrusive until 11.30pm. In the morning, we had to leave too early for breakfast. Shower hopeless - water tepid and of such low pressure we gave up.
