After the reviews we had read, we had low expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised to be in a large room that appeared to have been recently decorated. It was comfortable and very quiet. We enjoyed a swim- it was very quiet on Saturday morning. The minuses were that the check-in was very slow with a long queue. Used glasses...

great location and looks impressive from outside until you enter. Reception was untidy with boxes and vacuum cleaner. Corridor to rooms very drab and depressing. Rooms shabby, tatty and desperately need total renovation. Reception, bar, lounge and restaurant still retain grand Victorian feel and decor which is impressive as one expects from a spa town. Carvery expensive but food was...

Booked a four star hotel for two nights and got one star facilities. A pokey, rather shabby twin room on third floor: wifi didn't work, couldn't turn on bath tap( broken), thin towels, two bathroom blinds with no close mechanism, no adequate means to contact reception ( phones switched off), inadequate toiletries. Upon complaint we're moved the next night to larger,...

We visited the Palace Hotel annually for the Christmas party night with a group of friends. We always had a great night and the party atmosphere lived up to the mark. Food was ok, nothing special but nice. However the breakfasts were always a lovely sight and most enjoyable after a good night partying. The rooms are comfortable though some...

I visited with the wide and kids for one night over the bank holiday weekend. The location is great, a short walk to some nice restaurants in Buxton although it's definitely worth booking somewhere in advance as the restaurants are quite small and fill up quickly. Positives The gym is great and they have a separate weights room which is...

Arrived shortly before 2 o'clock, enquired wether a room was available receptionist didn't even bother to look and told us to come back at 2pm this led to a queue out the door at 2 and the check in staff not able to cope. Room was small, unable to see the tv from the bed and next to an air...

The Palace Hotel is an awesome building and it almost feels like you have stepped back in time to the late 1800's. It's packed with lots of original features, and you can still see the grandeur from a historic age. The hotel is not modern, and is in need of a total refit, but I think that's one of it...

Love these grand Victorian hotels the likes of which we will never see again. Our room was comfortable, especially the huge bed; well decorated and above all lovely and warm on a cold April day. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice but sadly the evening meal let the place down. The restaurant did not resemble the dining room on the...

Who ever has given this hotel 4 stars should of given us a 4 star warning. Price was 45 quid more room was disgusting ordered food chief had gone home. Spa therapist was rude and rushing home. Lifts did not work and I think they need to invest in a duster and staff need to go to learn some manner.
