Our two nights at Uplands House was something to remember, especially a January day like this. Mrs & Mr Cooksey were the absolute perfect hoasts and their warm reception gave us a feeling of being dear guests, visiting a lovely old-fashioned countryhome. Our rooms were absolutely lovely both in style and equipment. The garden was also lovely and Mrs Cooksey´s...

My partner and I visited Uplands House in the Cotswolds at the beginning of November for our anniversary, we have visited before of which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was exactly as we remembered. We arrived a bit late for tea, but this was not an issue for Poppy who served afternoon tea for us in front of a cheery fire....

My friend and I stayed one night at Uplands House as a break from an otherwise all-London holiday and we were delighted by the experience. Our room was very comfortably decorated and included a luxurious private bath. We met with our charming hostess Poppy and other guests over tea, and then together enjoyed a wonderful gourmet dinner prepared by Poppy...

What an unexpected treat! If you want a guest house with great warmth and character this is where to go. We were welcomed by Poppy whose hospitality is second to none. Staying in the Chinese room was a delight, the Chippendale bed and luxurious bed linen giving us the best night’s sleep ever. We dined in style by candlelight, Poppy...

My partner and I visited Uplands House on our way from London to Cumberland as it is only about 8 miles off the M40. It was one of the most welcoming places I have ever been to. On arrival we were shown to our room, the Chinese room, beautifully furnished, with a lovely view of the garden and fields, and...

We stayed one night at Uplands House while exploring the Cotswolds with our grown children and I'm so glad we did. Poppy is truly One-of-a-Kind...she's warm and welcoming and funny with a very sharp wit. She was nice enough to show us around her lovely gardens and my daughter dug our potatoes for dinner....and what a dinner!!! If you are...

We have just been delighted with a two day midweek stay at the Uplands. The hosts are warm and inviting, we arrived quite late, in the dark, but were soon happily ensconced in the magnificent 4 poster room, with its equally spacious bathroom. It has beautiful furniture and pictures, a table and upright chairs for emails and seeing to paper...

We were attracted to Uplands by its consistently excellent rating on TA, and its reputation as a ‘luxury B&B’, so our expectations were high. I liked it, but my overall conclusion is that it’s good to very good, but not excellent. Why? First impressions count, and our first impression of Uplands was not of luxury but of clutter. The second...

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Uplands House. It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary and Poppy very generously gave us the best room in the house, which was a lovely surprise. The room was spectacular, with a very comfy four poster and the bathroom was amazing, with room to swing several cats! We had a very enjoyable...

My husband and I returned to England after several years absence. One of the places we stayed was the Uplands House operated by Poppy Cooksey; what a "Gem". We were greeted with warmth and attention. We found the three days stay were filled with comfort and care. Poppy is truly a gourmet cook. The foods taste, presentation, texture and amount...
