Our room was in the old part of the hotel: atmospheric and comfortable. We left early the next morning so can’t comment on the breakfast, but we can recommend a drink and a meal in the bar, where the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We’d certainly stay here again.

decided to pay a bit extra to stay in a nice town centre hotel...woke up at 0630 to start my long days work to find no hot water at all.when mentioned it to receptionist, she scoffed and just said maintenance has been called.no solution,no appology offered...this spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay.

The staff are unhelpful and miserable looking. They have no customer service skills and are unable to deal with any issues. I paid for the executive room and had no hot water for the evening. I went to reception and notified them. A unhelpful man on reception said that they had a power cut and the boiler had been switched...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments below and I am so sorry to read about your experience during your stay with us this week. Regarding the loss of hotwater this was a technical issue and our engineers worked really hard to get the hot water back on but this took much longer than anticipated. You clearly highlighted some issues...

My family and I stayed here for a murder mystery weekend. We are all in agreement that we loved the surroundings and the garden looked beautiful. The hotel did have slight wear and tear but it is an old building and this did not bother me. I liked the atmosphere and the little touches which added to its history, unfortunately...

This is a traditional, olde worlde, apparently haunted hotel. I only stayed for a few hours sleep so didn't really sample hotel facilities other than a quick nightcap at the bar but I liked it and if I wasn't looking for a modern hotel would be more than happy to stay again.

We got married here just over a week ago, and from the moment we first stepped into the hotel over a year ago until we left the day after our wedding, the staff at the Whately have gone out of their way to make our wedding perfect. The main part of the hotel is hundreds of years old, and this...

Stayed at the Mercure a couple of times now for 1-night stays. Yes it is a very average hotel. Yes it is a bit tatty but given it's history, it also has a bit of charm, and the double bedrooms are more than adequate. But what gets my vote is it is good value for the price for Banbury, particularly...

This is a lovely hotel, right in the middle of Banbury.... Our spacious room had huge old oak beams, a great bathroom with a full size bath, flat screen TV and choccie biscuits.... What more could a girl ask for.... There's loads to do locally and some great eating places and pubs - altogether a great place to stay, wonderful...
