One needs to be fair. I've been to better, I've been to a LOT worse. The bathroom door doesn't close in Room 40 and there is damp coming through the wallpaper in places. There were only 3 pillows for two people and were as thin as toilet tissue. The toilet takes a while to fill up. And breathe. We asked for more pillows and got them. The female receptionist was polite and the manager was respectful. All the floors creak badly. The breakfast (included) was okay but we suspect the buffet had been there since 0730 as eggs and bacon were somewhat rubbery. But help yourself to as much as you want with tea, coffee and toast. I WOULD stay again but the downers stated do need attention to be fair. 7 out of 10 would be accurate.

I stayed here last saturday , it looked ok on the advert, what a joke. all there interested is your money. I have never stayed in such a draughty cold hotel, the rooms were basic to say the least . it would make fawlty towers look like a 5 star hotel. the breakfast lady was pleasant and must have felt ashamed at offering cold toast and slices of ham that looked like they were out of a budget pack. The milk was mouldy Yes mouldy in the rooms . The bar was cold and empty. The hotel is opposite a noisy train station ideal if you want to hear the train announcements and sound of locomotives... You have been warned.

CleN comfortable and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent too, nice bar and helpful staff. Opposite station. Nothing to complain about. Excellent value. The hotel has considerable history and character which is displayed in public areas so some people may say it’s dated I say its traditional and exactly what the building should be

My instincts on entering this hotel told me this place is used to house the homeless and a taxi driver later confirmed to me this is correct. We were only here one night and I just had to laugh about it make a fawlty towers joke and hope I didn't catch anything. Filthy, smelly, "dated" doesn't cover the decor. Didn't eat the breakfast as I'm celiac and although they offered gluten free toast I didn't trust them not to cross contaminate me. It looked pretty awful. Poor fish in sad tanks in the dining room not fit for habitation represent the rooms really. Corridors like a bail hostel. Rooms Filthy. Beds horrible and uncomfortable. Some of the lights worked so that's a bonus. No milk in the room. Couldn't get decaf. If they'd turned the room over between guests they'd done a very minimal job Signs everywhere about behaviour that evidence the type of "clientele" that usually stay here. It's obvious that this large building is running with far too few staff and needed a total refurbishment years ago. Honestly it's cheeky them still advertising it as a hotel to the public and the publicity photos are nothing short as a lie. It's a homeless hostel. The owners should admit it and run it as such. Ive seen prisons in better nick no pun intended. All I can say is it gave me a good laugh and as I left I told the owner not to mention the war. I don't think he got the joke.

We booked this hotel after ringing around every accomodation for neighbourhood weekender festival as were struggling. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful , could not fault the service we received from the moment we checked in to the moment we left . I have a feeling this hotel is family run as there is a foreign gentlemen and lady who I am assuming is his partner (sorry if I am wrong) who were both absolutely lovely and managed to fit us in to a twin room as a lot of the places were booked up and charging over extortionate prices In total we paid £94 per night for two nights when others wanted almost £300 a night due to the dates , so Thankyou pattern arms for not charging above and beyond . The hotel itself is opposite the train station so close to transport routes . Building on the outside is lovely it has a old feel to it , I would advise BEWARE of the advertisement of free car parking , we found that although there is a car park it is tiny for the amount of rooms the hotel actually has , can fit 4/5 cars on there max comfortably , tor a hotel with 40+ rooms and staff having to park its basically a non option and you will probably have to find alternative . There is a pay and display adjacent to the hotel that costs £12 for 24hrs in the week and £3 for 24hr on weekends , you have to pay by phone though as there’s no ticket machine . The rooms themselves are quite dated and basic , wallpaper was peeling in places on the ceiling , there was a dead wasp underneath the chair , the chair had a massive rip in the fabric . There didn’t seem to be a light switch above the mirror so no way to turn it on . The bathroom floor was questionable it was green but not laminate/tiled can’t really describe the material of it , was very bizarre and not the cleanest looking if I’m being totally honest . The side table looked like it had tea stains on it and the phone in the room looked a bit yellowy like it had been there for a long time . There was no plug socket by the bed itself so unable to charge phone while in bed which if you’re like me I like to sometimes browse my phone in bed . The bath was green ! Clean but very odd as the sink and toilet were white , maybe they are in the process of refurbishing it ?? We were on the top floor so the layout of the room was that one of the beds and where the toilet was is quite low ceiling so my partner had to be careful not to hit his head , not a problem and we were not bothered but just something to keep in mind if you are particularly tall . The beds themselves were 3/4 which was absolutely brilliant and were quite comfy , lots of bedding fresh towels and pillows provided , there is a kettle which amenities and biscuits , would be good if there was some cups and possibly some bottled water too would be a bonus . It can be quite noisy outside if you open the window but we didn’t have no problem sleeping The breakfast was terrible I’m not going to lie to you but can’t really moan as it is provided for free , the bacon still had all the fat on it and looked very anemic , the sausages did not look edible they were pink and a bit mushy , didn’t even attempt to touch it , my partner had one bite and didn’t eat the rest , the beans were cold within a couple of minutes nothing was really piping hot as it’s kept under a heater , the eggs were greasy and over cooked only option of sunny side up . The hash browns were the best part but were a bit soggy. The best options are the cereals and orange juice and they can make you toast if you ask for it . There fish tanks could do with a wash too as they looked abit dirty The reviews about the shower are accurate too the water doesn’t get hot and the pressure is awful so I didn’t attempt to have one , seems to be a running theme . The staff are more than happy to help you with whatever you need provided us with an iron which was much appreciated . I don’t know if they clean the rooms every day as when we came back from being out the bedsheets were as they were and the same towels but didn’t make much of a difference as it was only two nights and I’m sure the staff would get you what you need The staff are so friendly though and I think I would stay again but I don’t think I could do more than two nights in this place . Thankyou so much for your lovely hospitality and fitting us in on short notice !! Another pro is that the room is absolutely huge so loads of space they have a dressing table coat hangers and best of all a smart TVs so you can watch Netflix and on demand if you want to which some hotels don’t have !

This so called hotel looks fine from the pictures and the star ratings but it is truly awful. Arrived at 20.40 to find restaurant and bar closed and had to walk for about 10/15 minutes to find somewhere to eat. The room was very poorly decorated, the bed was hard with springs pushing though mattress and the shower didn’t work. At breakfast it became clear that this was a hotel where homeless people are housed and not a hotel in the true sense. This was confirmed by a local resident who works at a Best Western Hotel and that it it’s well known for for this. How this so called hotel ever got onto the Trivago site is beyond me so be aware. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE TO STAY IN. You will be extremely disappointed and unhappy.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was a real treat in a beautiful room. The staff are friendly and helpful. I arrived by train so the location is perfect with quick acess to the town centre and the station literally across the road. I will visit again.

For a budget hotel this had a lot going for it. It's literally opposite Warrington Bank Quay Rail Station. I liked it's old fashioned charm with dark wood furniture and rich colours. The rooms were huge compared to other budget hotels I've stayed in, particularly the bathroom. The TVs had Netflix which pleased my daughter! The room was warm. Breakfast was quite adequate and what I would expect for the price range. On the downside there was a nasty stain that smelled of sick on my duvet cover. I was given new covers as soon as I asked, but being exhausted from a day out during a Winter storm, the last thing I wanted to be doing was changing bed covers. The worst thing was that there was no hot water. The taps didn't even get hot for handwashing, which in Covid times feels very worrying. My daughter and I were unable to have a shower, which was horrible after a day in torrential rain. Luckily I only had to travel home but if I'd had an event the next day this would have been awful. The manager was very friendly and kind to my daughter. He reassured me there are not usually problems with the water but unfortuntely I think this would out me off staying again.

This hotel is pretty basic but it is great value for money and a great location for town centre. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, secure parking limited but available for my stay - staff notify you if vehicle needs moved, reception knew when I'd need to move my car and let me know in advance. Room was a great size, clean linen, modern fitting in bathroom. The building is 160yrs old and decor may not be modern but I have no complaints. Great wee bar and breakfast was lovely. Would stay again.
