My wife and I like to go to the Bedford for morning coffee every time we go to Tavistock. Old world style .. relaxed atmosphere surround by good paintings and seated in comfortable armchairs . The coffee served beautifully.. just the job. The service has always been pleasant too.

The BMW Motorcycle club recently held it's annual AGM at this hotel. The room it was held in was bright and air conditioned (needed for the hot air generated). The rooms were clean and ours well appointed. The evening meal for around 60 was served well the food was hot and tasty. The only criticism was the reception. There appeared...

Stayed as part of social club function and as such everything other than alcohol was paid for by the club.Hotel is very old-fashioned which some people might like. I found that it was noisy at night with creaking floorboards, banging doors etc. There are steep staircases and no lifts so that needs to be considered if you have mobility problems. I requested...

We stayed here as a group of six to celebrate our parents Pearl Wedding Anniversary. We were pleasantly greeted on arrival and our check in was dealt with quickly and easily by the reception staff. I had phoned a few weeks before to inform them that we would not be requiring a family room, however that is the room we...

The first room we booked was quite satisfactory until we discovered that the lock on the door had a habit of sticking meaning we could get locked in or out, or couldn't lock it! The Staff got onto it immediately, but being a weekend it couldn't be fixed instantly. Instead we were moved into another room (not easy for the...

Called in for morning coffee last Saturday morning. This place is steeped in history at every turn, ranging from quality antiques to original period paintings. The lounges were very busy but didn't quite reach saturation level. The coffee was good as was the service, although a smile from the waiter and waitresses would make all the difference to making someone...

Have just returned from an early Mother's Day Afternoon tea with the family. Booking by phone was friendly and efficient and the service we received with the food was great. The sandwiches were lovely, the cakes great and the scones were delicious. Such good value when compared to other local hotel offerings for much more than £12.95!! There is a...
