......if you are go stay in a plastic hotel, with plastic food and corporate decor. If you are not you will absolutly LOVE The Hill House! The rooms are amazing, comfortable quirky & original, with fantastic views over the Wye valley. The warm welcome from Duncan and Alex is entirely genuine, staying here is like visiting old friends, immediatly both...

I had read about Hill House in a blog reviewing an episode of “Hotel Inspector” aired last year. The whole ethos, while clearly not to La Polizzi’s taste, sounded exactly what I was looking for, and I contacted Duncan and Alex to ask whether they might have a vacancy for a solo traveller without their own transport. They were able...

I arrived to be greeted by cats, chickens and finally Duncan. The welcome was so warm and genuine. I was shown to my room and then given a guided tour of all the facilities on offer. I have to say the photos on the web site do not do the rooms justice. I had the Druid Suite which was large...

I have had the pleasure of staying in some amazing properties around the world in my career in the travel industry, from Park Lane to The Arizona Desert. Now Hill House may not be anyone near their league in terms of plush functional luxury but it has a unique charm, a different air and the most personable passionate owner one...

We were recommended Hill House by a friend and from start to finish weren't dissapointed. We stayed for a long weekend and can honestly say we've never been more relaxed! The house is situated on a hill overlooking the beautiful wye valley and surrounded by woodland and organic vegetable gardens. The house is a charming combination of period features spanning...

We arrived to be met by chickens roaming round the slightly less than imposing front entrance, having passed corner room full of junk. Bit of a surprise and had to be careful where putting one's feet! Quirky, likeable host, Duncan showed us to our room which was pleasant but, disappointing. Another room led off ours from a loft style stairway...

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, will definatley go back in a few months. Very relaxed & Duncan very friendly & welcoming. Didn't experience anything paranormal although the house itself has that spooky feel. Stayed in old mrs Thomas's room which was huge, bed was like sleeping in a cloud, so much so will be buying the exact same quilt for home :)...

We just wanted a night away so booked in The Hill House, having seen it on Hotel Inspector. We received a warm welcome from Duncan & Alex (and cats, chickens etc) and after sampling the local cider, enjoyed a fabulous meal of local produce, together with a bottle of English wine. We stayed in The White Room which was fabulous...

I had an interview the day before my stay at The Hill House and needed somewhere comfortable and welcoming to relax. I was greeted very warmly by Duncan and his family. The room I stayed in was huge as was the breakfast which was too big even for my appetite. The stay certainly did the trick as I got the...

Don't tell anyone that this is the best B&B that we've stayed in in this country! Duncan and Alex were perfectly accommodating, making us feel relaxed and at home as well as giving useful tips about the local area. Make sure that you keep it a secret that they cook hearty, local food- the best full English left us full...
