This "foodie" restaurant came highly recommended. The restaurant is located by the ocean. It seems the restaurant has been newly renovated. Staff were friendly. I struggled whether to give Average or Very Good as the meal was spotty. The hand dived scallops were very tasty but the steak I ordered was not salted nor was the gravy. It was rather...

Excellent service, first class food, very good menu, perfect situation. This was only an evening out for a meal with friends, lovely views across the Scapa Flo, scenery very good even at the beginning of march.

Had a Christmas meal with work colleagues and I just couldn't fault the food. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the Orkney gin and ginger sorbet was just fantastic! Beautiful surroundings and immaculate with good friendly service. It really is a beautiful place and a must if you are a tourist visiting Orkney. The only thing that spoilt it for...

I ordered the lobster a few days before, it was amazing, beautiful service and very clean cutlery which they serve with white gloves which I loved! It was very well set out, private and yet very busy! Will definitely be returning as it is know a favourite of mine whilst visiting my dad in Orkney!

Paul and his team could not have been more gracious and helpful. They went out of their way with every question. Room was freshly renovated and well appointed. Very comfortable and clean. The bonus is the restaurant. A true gem - food was delicious. We ate there our first night - only mistake we made was not eating there our...

Where can I begin?! From Paul's wonderful working with us on the phone and then his welcome, then the dinner. and now the breakfast -- let alone the room! I travel for business about 150 nights a year -- I normally do NOT like traveling for pleasure, However, we found The Foveran and it is exquisite! BEST staff engagement and...

We stayed for 5 nights on our cycling holiday of Orkney and Shetland, and ate in on 4 of those nights. The Foveran is about 2 miles outside Kirkwall with splendid views of Scapa Flow from the dining room and lounge areas. We were given dry a storage area for our bikes, and a very warm welcome. We were in...

We stayed at the Foveran for 5 nights, dining there each night. All the staff without exception were friendly and efficient. Generally the food at dinner was good and competently cooked, but having read some of the rave reviews, I must admit we were expecting a little more. Scallops were superb, North Ronaldsay Lamb was very good, and the catch...

We spent 2 nights at the Foveran and we were happy here. Our room was beautifully appointed, although a bit on the small side. We saw into another room which was much bigger and we would have loved that one (ask for room 7). Dinner was largely excellent, although on the 2nd night the vegetables and mutton were overcooked. I...
