Highland Park Hotel provided a very comfortable and appealing stay. Friendly and helpful hosts, a stylish bedroom in a beautifully decorated building, the facility of an attractive lounge and very good breakfast. All very civilised. Dinner is available at another hotel's restaurant within walking distance,...More
We stayed two nights in June 2017. The house is being lovingly restored by the present owners. We had a room with single beds (our choice), which was oldest part of home and was the Butler's Room. Our private bath was across the hall (no...More

Thank you. We are delighted that you liked the house and the setting so much.
We stayed here for two nights- we weren't too sure at first as you drive up through old distillery buildings - but then - WOW! The house is amazing, and the very talented couple that owns it have done wonderful things with the interior. It's...More

Thank you for your very generous and enthusiastic review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found the service outstanding. I would agree with your advice about the most popular restaurants getting booked up, although i think this will...More
I felt very fortunate to stay at this property, sadly for only one night over the Bank Holiday weekend. It is a beautiful property, perched on the edge of Kirkwall, with an easy walk into the centre. The hosts were very obliging, and do a...More

What a lovely review. Thank you. Hopefully we have inspired you to return to Orkney.
I stayed here only two nights and wish i stayed longer. It's comfortable, clean, friendly, provides a generous and tasty breakfast, offers advice and is simply charming. If you are without transport ask for the best route to the city centre, which takes about 20...More

I understand that our method of response may not be to everyone's taste, but we do not accept that we must grovel and apologise in all cases. We will not be blackmailed into meeting unreasonable demands with the threat of poor reviews and we have found through experience that it is better for all of our guests if expectations are clear on both sides. In all cases where we have responded "robustly", the guests either made demands that were unreasonable or behaved in a way that impacted on other guests' safety, comfort or service. I would add that a number of guests have actually complimented us on our responses to the very isolated examples of selfish and unfair behaviour and in some cases booked with us because of them. Some have gone further and used their own TA reviews to defend us further, which is very touching. Naturally, we take all comments (including yours) seriously and we do constantly review all aspects of our business and the way it is presented.

Glad you like the building and what we have done. We are currently open April to mid-October. Most reviews are fine, but it is usually the ones with an axe to grind who end up writing an essay and it is nearly always some form of revenge because they haven't been allowed to break rules which are there to make things work smoothly for everyone.
