We had a wedding fayre at the Bellesfield hotel, therefore booked in here for the weekend. The staff were pleasant and the hotel itself was nice and clean. However the décor in the bedrooms and the bar / restaurant could do with updating. Our booking came with breakfast which was lovely. We went out to a local Indian on one...

Recently stayed for a night, first time here and was blown away by the majesty of this Victorian hotel. The grounds are equally fabulous. If you like characterful hotels, this is a must. Ignore the 'tired' reports, it's not perfect but I'd rather stay somewhere that has personality and offers so much space than a near perfect 'box'. Even saw...

Stayed at this Hotel on Friday April 28th for my birthday treat. Our room was lovely with a seaview. Evening meal was three course meal with free bottle of wine. Breakfast help yourself. All this for £89 for both my husband and myself. Would recommend this hotel. Also the grounds were nice with a resident peacock, who came to reception door...

My wife and I used this hotel as part of a tour organised to see part of the lakes area. We traveled by coach from Bristol with a party of over 50 enthusiasts for trains and boats etc. The hotel being a period type was a little tired and needed some TLC on wallpaper and paintwork. As against that there...

The room was large comfortable and with good amenities if anything a bit over warm. Was there for a seminar and the room used was large bright and well layed out. The spa area could use some work. The food was good at breakfast and lunch the evening meals not to my taste but the others thought they were ok.

It was with great expectations to travel to the Lake District on our first visit to this area. This beautiful period building and its setting held all the potential to aid in our dream weekend. Sadly the interior was very disappointing. Tired decor and furnishings, wall paper hanging off walls, paint chipped off walls, etc. An attempt has been made...

Thank you for your comments and sorry to hear some guests disturbed your stay-we do not usually have unruly behaviour at the hotel and if we do the situation is usually promptly addressed. Pleased you liked the fully refurbished room 208 which was part of a large batch of rooms recently completed. As mentioned in previous reviews, Strathmore have a...

We had a lovely stay, staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. Bedroom was clean and food was good. The game area downstairs where the pool table and dart board is, needs updating, perhaps needs more things or games to keep older children and teenagers entertained. Also, we would like to go back with our toddler, however would be nice...

Thanks for your comments and that you had a pleasant stay. We do have an excellent childrens play area with swings, climbing frame and slide, next to the tennis court and putting green.

Very polite staff. A lovely clean single room with a comfortable bed. The building itself could use some upkeep like changing the carpets. Hair dryer wasn't working. Very conveniently located, about 0.5 miles from the Grange over Sands railway station. The food at the bar was a bit pricey. But i did enjoy my breakfasts in the morning, thanks to...

Thanks for posting and that you enjoyed the wonderful views we have. Sorry to hear that your hairdryer was not working, our full time maintenance would have replaced this instantly had it been reported to reception at the time.

An immense building much in need of refurbishment but with great potential! Bedroom clean and bed comfortable, room maintenance good but the room desperately needed repainting and refreshing! The linings of the curtains in room 305 were in tatters! Staff worked very hard to please! We had to wait 20 minutes in the restaurant having been shown to our seats...

We chose the Cumbria Grand as they advertised as Dog friendly. In fact, they were only allowed in the room and reception areas. We would never have expected our dogs to be allowed in the restaurant area but there is a bar area which was very quiet, in fact empty on all occasions l went in. We thought we would...

Thank you for posting your thoughts on the company wide "Dog Friendly" policy As mentioned in my direct response letter to a recent complaint letter regarding an identical situation (which no reply has been received) guests are to inform the hotel if they are bringing a dog (s) with them and we then email or post a copy of Strathmore...
