I visited this hotel on business and I enjoyed my stay there. My room was comfortable, clean and the hotel staff were very helpful. I didn't eat there, but the buffet breakfast looking good as I passed through the dining room.

Fine dining, alright, but I'm glad I wasn't picking up the bill for lunch for four. This country house-style restaurant prides itself on local produce presented in an electic and unusual manner. And it was an interesting experience to say the least! Unfortunately, for me, there wasn't much on the menu that inspired me although i was impressed by the...

Beautiful venue in a lovely setting and excellent courteous staff. However, these are all let down by less-than-average food. For a set menu with three each of starters, mains and puds (for just under £40 per head), I would have expected the food to be better than 'good'. Unfortunately it was uninspired, poorly presented and lacking flavour. Won't going back.

This is a great place to go and get away from everything else. Things I really liked: - powerful showers - beds+bedding - delicious fresh food - super friendly staff - and the special shabby chic decor that makes you feel at home. Things that could be improved - vacuum at 8am on a Sunday - cute tiny mirror hanging...

We had a small family dinner here to celebrate my son's 21st birthday. Excellent menu with excellent service and staff. Our meal was taken at a leisurely pace and we were not rushed. The restaurant phoned to check in advance for dietary requirements and provided all four of us with a complimentary drink and a birthday biscuit for my son....

Had a really nice stay here. This hotel came as a recommendation and looked good so we booked. Room was clean and spacious, we had one of the rooms with a bath in the bedroom. Food was great and they have a pizza oven to cook flatbreads for light lunches which were lovely. Staff were helpful and polite. Hotel is...

We have just returned from an overnight stay at the Pig, for a joint birthday celebration for my husband and some old school pals. The venue was chosen by a friend, partly because it is in the middle of the area where the old guys met all those years ago. Also because it provided a variety of different accomodation options,...

Had a dinner reservation. Arrived early to see the gardens & sample the cocktails. Dinner was exceptional. The service was perfect. A really amazing dining experience in a beautiful setting. Flawless. The Pig is a must do in the new forest. Kelly & Ben

We stopped here for lunch on the first day of our short break in the New Forest. I had lamb which was amazing. One of the best main courses ever! All the meals are prepared using locally sourced produce (within 25 miles of the restaurant). The subtly and freshness of the flavours was amazing. Service is excellent and the wine...

I ordered the scallops to start (a little price £11 for 2) which were in a sauce in the shell followed by the Pig Cheek (£15). The waiting staff seemed not keen to promote the restaurants speciality. I heard one member of staff and our adjacent table describing the dish as "not everyone's cup of tea" and recommending lamb instead....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
