Afternoon tea for two. What a lovely selection. The scones were still warm and so delicious. The best afternoon tea we have had. The staff friendly and welcoming. What an interesting building, many rooms to sit and enjoy coffee or a bar area. Yes it is old but that is part of the charm.

Having attended for midweek tea the starters were very basic and far too big portions. The main courses were not piping hot throughout. The bar area although oldy world is clearly now very dated and the chairs and tables in very shabby state which spoilt the ambience.

First stay at a Best Western Hotel and won't be the last. Booked a winter deal break. Got a nice sized room with a bigger than double bed. It had antique/vintage brown furniture, including a large carved headboard. Large bathroom with shower and towel heater. Also a little area at the side if one is reading and the other watches...

Just spent three days at the Bell, doing a little sightseeing in e/Yorkshire. Although not a great fan of Best Western Hotels this one is different. Arriving very early for our booking we were treated with smiles and a "anything to help" attitude. The hotel is a labyrinth of quaint rooms all decorated with period fixtures and fittings, blink and...

Popped in for lunch last week and went in through the back car park, walking through what seemed like a rabbit burrow of rooms into the bar where we found a seat. We ordered sandwiches as we were not hungry enough for a hot meal. The system for ordering and serving food reminded me of school dinners. The building is set...

Rooms were fine...dated and quaint...which is fine...but not the cleanest. Breakfast...terrible. Porridge needed chewing (and a good imagination). When I spoke to one of the staff she was dismissive and rude. Totally un accommodating . Not a great place.

From arriving at check in the attitude of the receptionist was appalling, she didn't even look up as she was busy doing the till, which was ok, but when she finally finished that she still didn't look up & very curtly said "Right, Name" A simple Good Afternoon can I help you would have been nice. Then my husband tried...
