I stayed two nights with a friend in Alpha Cottage. What a place, honestly. The hotel is peaceful and quiet without feeling isolated, it's surrounded by arable countryside with fields of cows who had their calves with them. The gardens are breathtaking, I don't often sit on a bench and admire the view but I spent a good half hour...

Douneside House is run by the MacRobert Trust in the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside. In many respects the hotel is close to perfection but sadly is let down by sloppy management. The apparent shortage of staff may explain the slow service in the Dining Room, canape arriving long after drinks had been served and petit fours long after the coffee. The administration...

Friendliest waitress ever! Very engaging and competent. Table set with snow white starched linen. Polished gleaming cutlery. Sparkling spotless glasses. Beautifully tended gardens. Views fit for a brochure showing the best of Scotland. The food was as good as the rest. Fresh home made soup, perfectly seasoned. Yet, every ingredient could be tasted. Home made selection of bread. Great coffee....

Stayed here recently and enjoyed the quiet location. There is a historic connection with the RAF and several mementos to this in and around the house. The staff are both friendly and helpful and although the menu is limited, it is delicious and beautifully presented. If you enjoy a dram, there is a wonderful choice. A return visit is on the cards...

We had an amazing stay at Douneside House. What a fabulous location, the grounds are a credit to the staff. Although it was early in the season when we stayed, you can see the love and care that is being brought into rejuvenating the garden. As gardeners ourselves, we appreciate the hard work and time it takes. Moving onto the...

My husband and I went for a night to Douneside House on a Monday night. We also took our 15 month old Jack Russell, Dorothy. We stayed in Cassa 22. It is a perfect studio apartment with a small kitchen area, a sitting area, a bed and a wet room. We all went up to the bar for a drink...

We had a family lunch here, our first visit and it certainly won't be our last, the lunch was fabulous, a limited menu with soup and sandwich selection and designer salad but it was top end, with home made bread, lovely surroundings and friendly efficient staff, we had a look at the dinner menu and again limited but we will...

This was our first visit to Douneside House and it will not be our last! The hotel has undergone a transformation apparently. What we found was a well appointed hotel, beautifully decorated and very very comfortable. Our room was lovely. We had a private roof terrace, which whilst not with a view, was great to sit on and have a...

This is a great hotel in a lovely setting. The refurbishment of the hotel is stylish, the facilities are superb and the food tops it off. We stayed over the Easter weekend and the location is ideally situated to enjoy the attractions of Royal Deeside.
