I stayed in this hotel two nights with my mum and we had a great and relaxing time. This is an ideal location considering the ongoing rain in this part of England. If you do not feel like going out and exploring, you can enjoy a tea or a snack in the terrace lounge that overlooks the lake. If you...

After years of not seeing snow in the winter we decided 10 or so days ago to spend a long weekend in the Lake District where we knew the hills and mountains would be snow-capped. We were not disappointed! Neither were we disappointed in our choice of hotel. The Macdonald Old England in Bowness is amazing. From its reception staff...

We stayed at this hotel for my husband's birthday for one night. We were upgraded to a room with a view of the Lake and enjoyed a bottle of prosecco watching the sun go down. The hotel itself is situated in the heart of Bowness and still has a lot of all the original features. The staff are extremely friendly...

Probably needs a bit of modernising as it felt and smelt really old. Staff are really nice and helpful and it's in a good location however beware if you are buying food and drink as it is really expensive, there's not much selection and not very nice. I felt like I had been ripped off. Some meals are supplemented and...

We had booked the Hydro Hotel as part of our holiday, We had a call from Darren REF: the Hydro explaining to us the Hydro was going to close for a major refurb who by the way was and still is very very helpful, and offered us a stay at the Old England hotel as an alternative instead (owned by the...

We stayed here on a 2 night DBB deal which was excellent value given the luxury. The hotel is in a fantastic, romantic spot right on the lakeside and is absolutely beautiful inside. Our room was pure luxury and was so quiet, dark and comfortable we slept brilliantly and felt like we had really had a holiday. Gorgeous views. The pool...

We stayed in a feature suite for two nights at a cost of £547.00. Loved the suite even thought it was a little tired, but like the rest of the hotel had a lovely feel. The views over the lake and marina were spectacular and you could sit for hours admiring it.The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding....

having previously given the hotel a bad review we have just returned home after another stay and can only describe our stay as superb. The staff, service, food and room were faultless. The only thing we found to be critical of is the £20 per night car parking charge, which we felt was extortionate!!! previously it was £10 which was...
