We stayed one night. We didn't get chance to drink in the pub but wish we had more time. Proper pub, perfect ale connoisseurs retreat! The room was tastefully decorated with a boutique hotel type feel. Breakfast was lovely and really couldn't fault it overall. The only tiny gripe we had was that Wi-Fi didn't work. It wouldn't normally bother...

We stayed for one night visiting friends in Durham. The pub has so much character and everyone was so welcoming. Excellent breakfast. I'd recommend this as a great place to stay if visiting Durham. Very close to the town centre and cathedral.

After staying at a more expensive hotel in Novemeber we decided to do a bit of research and found this little pub with rooms. As previous people have commented the bar area is like going 100 years and was very nice, friendly and certainly warm. The bedrooms were very nice with everything you would expect. Breakfast a bit early but...

My wife, dog, and I stayed here for three nights as a base for exploring Durham City and surroundings. It is within a five minute walk of the cathedral and fortunately there is no need to move the car to go into the historic centre. Parking is Very Tight, but at least it has some. The room was comfortable (over...

I cannot express what a wonderful time we had at the Victoria Inn. It is tripping distance to the cathedral and well situated. The staff were all incredibly friendly. The interior is so beautiful and wonderful, I felt like we were staying in an exhibit in the Victoria and Albert Museum - just so so beautiful having won awards for...

Years ago I have had the odd drink here when I lived in the city. As we were visiting our remaining family and friends it was recommended to us to stop here overnight so we booked up for one night only. Nothing has changed, just the staff and locals are a tad older. This is very much a Victorian pub...

Stayed here two nights for the Christmas market in Durham. This is a conveniently-located, comfortable, very friendly and excellent pub if you want to explore Durham. It is a Victorian gem with character, coal fires, excellent beer and parking thrown in. The decor, pictures, furniture and collectables all give an authentic feel, but the real plus is how friendly the...

Having parked on this road for years when visiting Durham, I have missed an absolute hidden gem. The beer, gin, staff, room, fabulous. We felt so welcome by staff and locals. Will absolutely return when we find a reason. Great city too.

I have to admit to being a little unsure as we entered the bar area on arrival but we were warmly and efficiently welcomed and shown up to our room (lots of stairs so you need to be prepared to climb!). The room was delightful - clean, comfortable and well furnished. The breakfast was excellent - a lovely lady was...
