Serious safety incident
I found the accommodation on spare room .com. Unfortunately when I moved in I had a chest infection. The landlord Mr Cliff Streeton first knocked on my door to accuse me of speaking with a neighbor and then told me I had been on the next door house twice and accused me of having a key, I had only spoken with the young lad with a dog on the beach and walked up the road with him happy to have made a friend after moving to a new area. I was then advised by the landlord that if I wished to live at the Rosalyn i would not be allowed to speak with the next door neighbors. Desperate for a roof over my head I complied after being summoned to the front room for more than one ear bashing whilst I thought I'd collapse from the infection. Once I got better I started going swimming. One day whilst Cliff was talking to me in the hallway about the resident he had just outed, Mr Streeton said to me 'you haven't done anything wrong have you' he then said ' your the fittest one here and proceeded to put his hand on my left arm in an attempt to turn me around to look at my behind, I felt most uncomfortable and moved asside muttering that I had been doing swimming. I didn't realise how much it affected me until I started not wanting to wear skirts or anything tight or revealing and I started to stay in alot and cry. Mr Streeton being fully aware of my history acted most inappropriately. Mr Streeton said I could havey boyfriend stay over if I wished on occasion but when I did have a friend over he banged on my door past midnight threatening the police if my guest didn't leave despite to there being no nuisance or disturbance. I was later told by Mr Streeton he had observed me in the car park talking to a man he didn't like for more than fifteen minutes. I then refused to pay anymore rent and Mr Streeton gave me a week to leave and if I did by the Friday he would give me £100. I took the offer and moved into the next door house. I think he thought he could pay to get rid of the problem. Mr Streeton then messaged the landlady of the next door house to say he had outed me and to wish her luck. Interesting Business attitude. Unfortunately I was downgraded to a single room in a winter let which absolutely stank of urine so I couldn't remain in the room anyhow. I'm so much happier now next door but my confidence took a downturn and it affected my sekf esteem greatly. I do not recommend this accommodation if you are a vulnerable woman.

Just arrived back from a 3 night break. Great place to stay. Very clean and Cliff is very welcoming and cooks a delicious breakfast. It is very convenient for the beach We parked our car and walked everywhere and used the bus to travel further afield. Hoping to visit again.

The wife and I stayed here for one night- room 8 - as I was running in the Torbay half-marathon. The room was ideal for our purpose with a good shower, bed and tea/ coffee making facilities. The owner, Cliff, was very helpful and could not fault him. My wife had a very impressive breakfast and all in all it was all good !

My partner and I (Lisa and Lee Cleary) stayed here for the 4th time again this summer and absolutely loved it (as we always do! ). The hosts are fabulous and cannot do enough to make you feel happy and welcome. Cliff (one of the hosts) has an AMAZING sense of humour and made us laugh and smile constantly during the time he served breakfast (which was absolutely delicious). The rooms we have stayed in have been perfect for our needs and kept extremely clean. Tea and coffee always refilled. There is lots of parking too which is an added bonus. We will DEFINITELY be returning soon as we would never want to stay anywhere else in Paignton. Thanks so much Cliff and Cathy for another wonderful stay!

Decent location but hotel is tired and needs renovation badly. We stayed for two nights and that would be my limit. Parking is also limited and although this hotel is near the sea Seagulls seem to frequent this area and cars and pavements, etc are covered with their droppings. Over all would not return or recommend sadly.

The old saying that you get what you pay for definitely rings true here. Not going into too much detail but after the first night of three, it's the first time we've ever checked out early. Noisy, had to wipe surfaces, and the bed wasn't great either. I even heard someone fart through the paper thin walls. Basil Fawlty, come back, all is forgiven!

'er indoors & i stayed 31st july-9th august. Had rm 5 on 1st floor, absolutely spot-on. Compact but adequate. Good shower temperature & pressure. cliff & cathy lovely couple, and place was extremely clean. Perfect breakfast of your choice, cooked & served fresh & hot. What more could one ask for. Good atmosphere & service. Highly recommended*****. Good friendly food pub in same road (Captain Jacks)... Having read previous reviews on here, i would say if one expects 5* hotel facilities, go stay in a 5* hotel & pay 5* prices. Many folks don't appear to have enjoyed a holiday unless they find something to complain about.🙄
