Stayed here as part of a cricket tour. For the money paid, I have no complaints at all. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the hotel had a quirky character that I found refreshing compared to most modern hotels. Would not hesitate to use again.

Over the first bank holiday in May I, along with 27 others, stayed at the Medehamstede Hotel for our annual cricket tour. This was our first tour to the Isle of Wight for many years and possibly the best one I've been on thanks in no small part to the hotel. It's fair to say I was a little apprehensive...

My husband and I Spent four nights five days at the Medhamstede we enjoyed everything about it. The location was superb for a walk into the old town of Shanklin or to the beach front. The staff were excellent, fun and friendly nothing was too much trouble. I must commend the chef on her food as it was all fresh...

Selected here as a last minute visit was necessary and wanted "cheap & cheerful". We were not disappointed, good size room with a sea view, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Perhaps a little tired looking but very clean and tidy.

Myself, my husband and two friends stayed here for 4 days over New Year. We found the hotel excellent. It is a little dated but the service more than compensates for that. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was piping hot and plentiful, the entertainment was really good, the room was spacious and warm and the...

I had to stay somewhere for a couple of nights while construction work was being done at my home so I did a quick search for affordable hotels locally. I was very pleased to with the value of the hotel and it was nice to have a cooked breakfast included in the room price too. I stayed for just 2...

After reading the comments on Trip Advisor, both harsh and good, I’m glad that I didn’t let the harsh ones stop me from visiting. Although the outside does need attention, and the rooms are a little old-fashioned, my room was clean, warm, and comfortable. For the price, it more than served its purpose. The staff were generally helpful and the...

Very good food, good location and friendly staff. What more could you ask for. Steak and Ale pie, and, Liver and Bacon were really very nice. Rooms and outside could be redecorated but then prices would probably go up!!! All in all had a great time.

Thank you for your review and positive comments about our food and staff. We will be doing some essential work on the front of the Hotel very soon but we don't expect it to have an effect on the great rates we can offer.

There were so many many inadequate and bad things about this hotel I did not know quite where to start, so I have made a list below: 1. Crudely and very cheaply decorated (Ceiling wallpaper??), cord carpet and woodchip wallpaper, curtains too short for windows, old 1970s towels. 2. Bedroom dirty and grimy, mould and dust thick on many surfaces...

Thank you for your review and I am sorry about the problems with your room. I think it is extremely unlikely that someone found a piece of glass in their food...
