Party of 17 enjoyed the three course buffet and entertainment. The food was excellent and the service good, although the trainee barman needs to brush up his understanding of English. Six of our group chose to stay overnight and thouroughly enjoyed their stay.

We booked at the Empress Hotel because we wanted to be located on the Promenade. Check in was a breeze and we stayed in an Executive Double Sea View Room. Although the exterior of the hotel holds a distinct aged architecture, our room was recently renovated complete with new furniture and carpet to which we were pleasantly surprised. Our room...

We purchased our stay at the Empress in a charity auction. The hotel is old but well maintained and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately we arrived midst a St Patrick's Day celebration and had to fight our way to reception. Our room was small but functional with a rather sloping floor. I was disappointed that the was only shower gel attached to...

We visit family on the island regularly and always have an excellent stay at the Empress. Our newly decorated sea view room this time was lovely. The facilities are consistently good and the breakfast is first rate.

Location ideal for the Gaiety Theatre, 5 minutes walk away. Room quite small but clean and functional. Buffet breakfast very good. Beach across the road. Parking can be an issue. Reception staff very helpful.

I travel to the Isle of Man quite frequently and always stay here. I appreciate the consistency in the value and service of the hotel and rooms, and of course the views as well! The rooms are outdated as others have mentioned and I feel a bit like I'm staying at my Oma's but I'll always be back!

Dear LoveLondonLife Thanks for your 5 star review. We are just finishing a refurbishment of the seaview rooms at the front of the Hotel with completion by mid April. I hope you are able to try these superb new rooms next time as they are very modern and I'm sure you'll be impressed. The rear facing rooms will start with...

My brother and I spent a week at the Empress Hotel on holiday. I was surprised to read the reviews saying the staff were friendly and helpful as we found they were anything but (with the exception of one young lad at breakfast who couldn't do enough for people). The reception staff particularly were abrupt and on occasion downright rude...

Dear CarinaTalmey Thanks for your review and a first for me at The Empress with a criticism of the staff. I'm really surprised about your comments about the staff being unfriendly as it's always a pretty much guarantee that guests are very positive about the team here. However, I'm sorry you felt that way and also wondered if you didn't...

The IOM was on my bucket list of countries and had absolutely no plan or idea when I arrived. The Empress, like other hotels on the Promenade, is older--but don't think that it is subpar. I'm a world traveler and I often book budget hotels and hostels. This was great. The staff were wonderful. There are two bus stations on...

Hi, I spent three nights in the hotel in February. As in the title, it's good hotel and friendly staff. I didn't use the hotel's gym and didn't use its restaurants for dinners so no say about those. However must say they serve very testy English breakfasts. In my room it was very comfortable mattress in bed and quite good...
