Very friendly staff, tasty breakfast (smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, with choice of continental breakfast and strong coffee!) and comfortable room with dressing gowns and powerful shower. Nice view of the river from our room.

We stayed here with friends while on a skiing trip to the Cairngorms. It was an amazing find with very welcoming hosts, excellent three course dinner, fresh breakfast and warm, communal spaces. They even set out a small breakfast for us due to an early start on one of the mornings. We will definitely visit again if we ever come...

Wonderful place to stay, welcoming, beautifully decorated and romantic with a stream outside our window. The food is fantastic! Seriously ... the food is fantastic! We had the three course menu tonight and our taste buds were in overdrive. Roasted Quail and Venison were my choices, husband had fois gras followed by THE MOST delicious lamb. Both had cheeses to...

Back to The Cross after a few years & it was everything we wanted; comfort, peace, quiet & great food. We took a riverside room & the sound of rushing water outside was magical, as was our snowy walk on New Years Day. Chose The Cross because we knew the food would be good & we wanted to treat ourselves...

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights...we'd arrived by sleeper train at Kingussie at 7.30am approx. Derek and Celia were extremely accommodating and provided us with breakfast. Our room was extremely comfortable and the breakfasts and evening meals were absolutely delicious. We were made to feel extremely welcome and felt very relaxed. We don't normally post reviews on...

Really comfortable room under the eves with a balcony overlooking the little river outside. Huge double duvet which is always a plus for Scandinavians like us used...

We have been holidaying in the area for over 30 years and have just found this gem!!! I cannot speak about the rooms as we only dined there but, if they are in line with the reception and restaurant area, combined with the quality of food and service we received, I can only imagine they will be excellent. The ambiance...

I save reviews of hotels and restaurants that stand out in some way, and when we planned a trip to Scotland, I came up with an old review of The Cross. It was deemed one of the best in Scotland for both food and accommodations. The nine-room hotel is in an old converted mill with a stream outside the windows...
