We have just returned from a four night stay. Firstly, this hotel is currently going under a refurbishment. Three of the rooms we booked, had just been completed earlier this month - they were excellent. We had an issue with standard of the fourth room, which we complained about and were given another room, slightly less ‘tired’. The communal areas are as other posts advise tired, however putting this aside there are lots of positives.
The cleanliness of the hotel is very good and there were plenty of sanitising stations around the communal areas. It was clear the hotel were making the environment Covid Secure, so this was very reassuring. The hotel require guests to wear masks while walking around the communal areas, this was generally not adhered to by other guests. All the staff were wearing masks.
The staff were very welcoming, attentive, responsive and generally made the stay enjoyable. Special mention to Josh, excellent customer service skills.
You have to request room cleaning and replacement towels when required; go to reception for anything else requiring replenishment. All very reasonable under the circumstances.
We had breakfast only and this was good. Everything is brought to your table and you can order anything off the menu, consisting of continental and cooked items. All was plentiful.
Once this hotel is fully refurbished, it would be worthy of an excellent rating.

This is one of the Leisureplex hotels belonging to Alfa Travel and most guests are here on a coach tour.

The hotel is a lovely position overlooking the North Bay, castle and harbour and just a short walk to the town centre.

To ease pressure on the kitchens, there were two sittings for breakfast and dinner. I was on the last for both.

Waiting staff were efficient and tried hard to serve you quickly. However, breakfast could be slow if staff were going round serving tea and coffee to the tables.

The menus are typical of all Leisureplex hotels and regular visitors know what to expect. There is always a reasonable choice. They do tend to be ‘school dinners’ rather than Haute Cuisine’. Portion sizes are possibly smaller than in the past (a result of increasing costs and trying to work to the very small budget from Alfa) but I never left feeling hungry. On the 7pm sitting, we didn’t experience problems with food running out.

Staff often didn’t have time to reset tables between servings and a tray with cutlery and crockery was left on each table.

The hotel is an absolute rabbit warren inside and it isn't always logical where the rooms are. There is a lift but once it has been called it will continue to go up (or down) even if you want to go the opposite way!

Many of the rooms have been refurbished and are very pleasant.

I was allocated room 13 which was a very nice room with a large bathroom with large walk in shower. However, it was up a short flight of stairs, through an unmarked fire door and in a short corridor opposite the gent's toilet. I must admit I wasn’t too happy about that but decided that as Alfa customers tend to be of a ‘certain age’ I wasn’t likely to get disturbed by too many drunken males. BUT, I hadn’t reckoned for the entertainer.... the noise was so loud that it sounded as if he was in the room with me. I had to ask reception to move me.

I was moved to a room on the top floor. This has still to be refurbished and wasn’t such a nice room but was QUIET - almost eerily so! The shower was old fashioned and controlled by turning the two taps. It was very difficult to adjust the temperature especially as this varied with water pressure and if someone else was using water.

At the price Alfa charge, this hotel is good value. It isn’t perfect and there are areas for improvement. Just avoid room 13 (or any others near the bar ) if you don’t like loud music!

got back from glorious tenby on saturday eve a trip with alpha coaches & ok just read the latest reviews so here is mine. had a lovely time hotel is great beds really comfortable shower large loads of hot water, no view in room 14 but a huge opening window in 39 degrees we needed that room clean sheets & towels spotless did not have the room serviced who needs that for 6 days just got bin bags and clean towels from reception no problem at all , now to the food having been in catering as a chef for most of my working life know how hard it is to mass cater and please everybody heard a lot of complaints but for what we paid the food and choice was very acceptable it's not a 5 star £200 a night hotel you get what you pay for the dining room was very clean and a pleasant sea view. the staff mario and the girls worked their socks off in a professional friendly manner how they can all keep smiling beats me great stuff guys well done. i am very observant and to me it looks very much as if the few restaurant and bar staff & reception do everything as i also saw the same guys and girls cleaning the rooms too. the lovely girl on the bar plus other work was so efficient too even on a busy evening she seemed to get all the glasses clean and away before closing the bar. can't comment on the management hardly saw or was aware of who this was. evening entertainment was very good and made it a pleasure to stay in and enjoy an extra bonus we met some very nice people to spend the evenings with. now alpha coaches best driver we have had laurence by name really nice guy, good driver, big smile, informative, thank you, trips great apart from pembroke which apart from the castle is a place best missed. tenby is a beautiful place went there at christmas same hotel and it looked even lovelier in the sun so thankyou all the staff at cliffe - norton for helping to make our break a good one.& it was great seeing you all again, hope you have a good summer keep smiling. alpha holidays should be proud of the staff here.

Hotel was in a great spot, directly across from the beach. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is very dated, It is in need of refurb. It felt dirty as it did not smell clean. Covid restrictions aside, the only cleaning that I saw was the dining room and bar staff cleaning the tables, I did not see anyone clean the busy traffic areas like banisters, lifts etc. The room was clean, but very dated and the bed had seen better days, it was very lumpy and uncomfortable the window were filthy, which was a shame as the view is amazing. I don't think it was worth £116 per night, more like £70 a night would be more appropriate.

We had room 41 which had two windows overlooking the North beach, which was stunning. The window ledges are large so you can sit on them and admire the view. The room was dated, the bed has seen better days, very soft with lots of protruding springs. The hotel itself is very dimly lit, which seems silly as it appears they make most of their money from the elderly. Breakfast is extensive, you can pick cereals, tinned fruit, cooked breakfasts. Although some staff seem lazier than others. A gentleman with dark hair took out orders, recorded them to memory and rushed around delivering peoples food. He was clearly overworked when others he worked with seemed to shy away from work. We booked privately and expected more for the money we paid, but if you had booked as part of a coach holiday then I suppose there is nothing to grumble about.

Me, my husband and son have just returned from a five-day Alfa coach tour to Tenby. The location of the hotel is stunning, overlooking the beach and harbour, and within easy walking distance of the town with its lovely shops, restaurants and bars. We walked down to the harbour and booked on a couple of the boat trips, we had a lovely day out to Caldey Island, and a boat trip around Tenby bay.
We had two sea view rooms, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were serviced every day with fresh towels and hospitality supplies. The food was good, plentiful, with a choice of courses and chefs specials, and the service was excellent.
The hotel has a lovely team of staff, which really makes the holiday special. The manager, and all the staff were very friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant manager was very organised and efficient, and all the restaurant and bar staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our waitress, Mira, was absolutely fantastic, so attentive and always had a lovely smile for all the guests. The hotel is in need of refurbishment, however it didn't detract from our enjoyment, we loved it, and we came back home and booked it again for next year. Thank you everyone at the Cliffe Norton.

Stayed here and will never stay again.
1st night not 2 bad but then a coach party turned up and we were treated like the poor relations. Couldn't have breakfast in dinning room had to have it in reception where it was cold and people going in and out. When breakfast did turn up it was stone cold .awful. my wife left in tears.
If yu needed soap, or any toiletries yu had to ask every day at reception. They would put it in brown bag. Very strange.
I know hotels need the coach parties but not pushing out couples who should have the same rights as the coach people.
I agree with a lot of the comments on this page the hotel is tired and needs some TLC. Read with amusement a customer had a problem with water dripping outside his window. We had the same problem so we leaned out of window and fixed the leaking pipe. Another customer said the food was like a nursing home with mashed potatoes etc. Totally and utterly agree. They need to sit back and look at there rather large problems. The lift is nightmare as 1 person at a time. Toilets upstairs from reception. We met another customer who had been there the same amount of time as us,summed his stay up. He said it was like waiting for god. Couldn't have put it better myself

This was the worse hotel I’ve stayed in staff disorganised and my single room was cold and grubby. After several visits from handyman heating finally came on properly on my last full day. The housekeeping is abysmal scoping wet dirty towels were hung up in cold bathroom instead of changing them The reception staff tried to help but the queue for guests with problems was often long and cliche excuses were given. I can see the hotel is having some updating done but rolls of carpet left in bar wasn’t great The waiters and waitresses were good and the food acceptable but I won’t be recommending this hotel

This was a four day Alfa coach holiday, my first experience of them . Was picked up on time by the feeder coach . It took two hours to get to Reading interchange, then just twenty minutes before main tour coach departed, so very rushed. Tour coach was Bluebird coach company acting for Alfa. Ian very friendly driver. Got to hotel about an hour late because of traffic. Reception check in very fast. My room on third floor, lots of steps , main lift awaiting repair. My room was a pleasant surprise, very clean, comfortable bed , sea view I had booked, recently refurbished by the looks. Bathroom very nice, great walk in power shower, sensible room around toilet, I’m a large guy & it was fine. Very quiet, I had towels, plenty of toilet roll and toiletries provided & can ask for more as required, same for tea & coffee. Evening meal at 7.00 , quick service, the young waitress worked very hard. Meal it self very small & school dinner like . Should have been free drink per night with dinner, we only got one voucher, much confusion over this as staff didn’t know of brochure offer . Reception staff have to cover bar as well so service not great because of lack of staff, the staff doing the work try very hard, this place really needs more staff ! Breakfast again tiny portions in as much you could actually count the baked beans. My last morning I was hurried from my table after 30 minutes because I was told of second sitting even though there were many empty tables, never in my life have I been asked to leave after such a short time. The excursions were very bland & not much open, although this is of course not a fault of hotel. All in all , staff very good and hard working, my room excellent, many different levels on floors , there was entertainment but strangely not on Saturday, I can’t comment because I was not watching it . Meals and severe lack of staff let hotel down. Also kitchen staff spitting outside can be seen by guests from table, not good to see especially at breakfast! Staff can be seen through window to kitchen eating things while working, not professional, Covid19 you say? ! I hope this hotel improves as in a great location, just get the basic things sorted.

.We were greeted by the lovely Krisztina and welcomed to the hotel. Our rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious. All the staff were eager to help if required and pleasant to deal with. Marco and Matthew in the restaurant were pleasant and efficient. In fact nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The food and entertainment were good and really enjoyed both. You need to put towels in the shower/bath if you want them changing and put the notice of which room service you require on outside of your door before bed. One of the best holidays we’ve had .😘😘
