My husband and I (both retired) really enjoyed our 4-day stay here. The location was superb and although the hotel appears smallish from outside, this was deceptive. Our room was average sized but immaculate. There is a wonderful large public lounge situated on the second floor where you can sit and watch the waves on the beach below if you didn't fancy going out. The breakfast was nicely cooked, served promptly and was perfectly adequate. There was nothing fussy about the place or the owner. Everything was dealt with calmly and politely and we were made to feel very welcome. We would definately return to this hotel and that's something we don't often say!

Location is beautiful, situated above the main beach and just a short walk to great restaurants. We found this hotel to be clean, comfortable, good value and child friendly. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The manager ensured we had a larger room to accomodate our baby and a cot. Although we did not have a sea view, there is a very large shared sitting room on the second floor with stunning views, ideal for passing time on a wet day. I would stay here again and recommend the Castle View Hotel to friends.

We booked this hotel before reading the comments made on the website and were a little dubious about staying there. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The accomodation was perfectly adequate size wise, and was clean and tidy. All the staff we dealt with when checking in and at breakfast etc. were all very helpful, polite and attentive.
The upstairs guest lounge was a lovely spot to sit for a drink, overlooking the bay.
I have stayed at more impressive places than this, but would happily return for another visit, particularly as a couple.
My only criticism would be the limited choice of cooked breakfast. If you stayed for a longer period of time, the limited menu may become a bit 'samey' and breakfast is only served for an hour so there is not a great deal of flexibility there. However, I wouldn't let that put you off, especially if you have no desire to be up and out before 9.00am!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel mid June 2007. We had never been to Tenby before, but were assured it was a lovely place and it definately was. We chose to stay at the Castle View as it had a good central location and the price was resonable (£37.50 per night per person - without a sea view). The room was clean / tidy, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a lovely big bath. Our only complaint about the room was it was rather chilly and although the room was fitted with a heater, we couldn't get it to work. It also felt a little cramped. The breakfasts were very nice and the service was efficient. The language barrier was a slight problem as many of the staff are foreign, but the owers were Welsh and very friendly and helpful. The hotel has it's own private car park at the back of the hotel which is accessed via a secure barrier. This is another problem as when you want to enter / leave the car park the owner of the hotel has to come out with you to operate the barrier. This can be inconveinient and become a pain. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would consider staying here again should we re visit Tenby.

Had a great time in Tenby, the hotel is clean and very friendly, the service was great, the owner and her staff were excellent. It's perfectly situated near the center of town, and makes a great base for walking / cycling.

We have just spent two excellent weeks at Castle View. We too were somewhat sceptical after reading previous negative comments. We had a wonderful time. Staff were friendly but not 'in your face'. Ready to help whenever possible. Anyone who knows Tenby realises the great difficulties with parking. There is on site parking (limited). The token scheme worked extremely well for us. We were able to keep the tokens for the duration of our holiday which meant coming and going was easy. Short term holiday makers may feel it a nuisance, but compare it to having to drive around the town - when you can! No comparison. If you can afford a sea-view room then it is well worth the extra.
As for breakfast, did previous reviewers ask for a fried egg? I did, and had one every day. Breakfast could be any combination of what was on the menu. We would not hesitate in returning to the hotel again.

Nothing more to say here, I have said it all above, IT IS ALL EXCELLENT, I am going again soon on my own, the Daughter & her husband are back in work, & the grandchildren are going back to school.
I don't mind the key system to park my car at the rear, at least there is a place to park within a locked car park, I fail to see how other Hotels manage to park cars,Tenby is a very very very congested place, so cogested you are not allowed to drive in the town in the summer months. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK "JUDY"

We stayed here for 2 nights in September. Firstly, this is in a great location opposite the beach and only a few minutes walk to the numerous bars and restaurants in Tenby.
This is one of those hotels where there is nothing dramatically wrong but the number of small things start to add up.....
- carpet in the bathroom, hence soggy and damp smell
- paper bath mat (yuck!)
- poor quality and choice at breakfast - what no fried eggs??!!
- timing of breakfast - this was 8.30-9.30 only (as keen walkers we wanted to make an early start, but this wasn't possible - equally irritating if you wanted a lay in)
- hairdrier in room, but fixed to drawer - normally not a problem, but had to be plugged in on the other side of the room - tricky!
General feeling is that this hotel is run for the convenience of the management / staff and not the guests. The owner, whilst perfectly pleasant, gave the impression that she was rather tired by it all and would prefer to be somewhere else.

Went to Castle View just for the night. Found the hotel very good on 'every front'. Staff very friendly and approachable. Room was very clean and comfortable and the food good. The room rate was very reasonable. Good value at its best. Hard to beat!
