Breakfast was good although with a full hotel you do really need at least two coffee machines otherwise you get a queue which stops others from accessing the buffet.

Even with a 30 minute drive from Cardiff to get to hotel, we weren’t disappointed. The hotel was set in lovely surrounded amongst rolling fields. The road up to hotel is lined with sheep.
Check-in was easy, we were asked if we wanted to make a dinner reservation, or add breakfast to which we declined both, so cannot comment on the quality of food.
We were given Room 214 on the Second Floor. It had been refurbished to a high and modern standard, but felt homely. Bed was comfy. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided. Nice view out the Juliet balcony.
The only downside (and why I couldn’t give 5 stars) is the need for soundproofing. The walls are very thin, and you almost make out conversations from adjoining rooms. Additionally as there was a wedding on there was a lot of noisy children and likely drunk adults making quite a bit of noise gone midnight in the corridor. In the morning you could also hear the conversations of housekeeping staff.
Aside from that, I enjoyed the stay and may consider returning if I’m ever in the area, but it may be worth finding out if there is a wedding scheduled first.
The reason for my 3/5 rated review are as follows:
£5.20 for a pint of soft drink is an absolute disgrace. I expect certain markups for drinks given a wedding venue. A pint of Madri is an expected £6.20.
We stayed overnight the rooms are well presented, but the showers appear dirty and the water pressure is pretty bad. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning which was good given the hot weather we had.
Breakfast was included within our room rate, the breakfast was okay, but I would have expected a more buffet style hot option to allow children to pick what they wanted, as apposed to explaining to a waiter what we’d like from a set menu. Continental breakfast is a buffet style.
Overall, it was not a bad stay at Lechwen Hall, however I would think twice on returning here.

As we sat down on a very sticky brown table we noticed the dead flies and very dirty cutlery. All of the tables had no tablecloth and were the same sticky old condition. you felt like you were eating in a greasy diner. The selection was very limited and and did not offer anywhere near a usual menu. We were unable to get up and go go somewhere else due to the location and immediately wished we weren't there. I then went to use the napkin and saw this... See pictures.
So after cleaning are own cutlery and trying to make the best of it we noticed the waiter (with his mask half over his mouth and chin... (Either wear it or don't wear it for god's sake) prepare are another table with cutlery directly on the dirtiest table you would ever want to see. At this point I said to him, "don't you think you should clean that table before you laid it out out"? With attitude he marched off to find some spray and get rid of all the crumbs left by the previous diner. The other guests applauded the fact I spoke out as they all said that was really bad.
The food was good, ...expensive but good. Didn't expect the Little non branded sachets of sauce either! Very poor! We rushed our food and without dessert decided to just go. We were only there less than an hour. When the the junior manager ask me how was everything, I was again going to to not say anything but he could see I wasn't happy and and asked again. After telling him, He agreed this was not acceptable and knocked the two small drinks we had off the Bill.
I think this hotel could do with knowing what makes a restaurant comfortable and and definitely train their staff in not only how to to wait on a table but to learn how to wear a face mask. Shame as we needed better because of all of the recent restrictions. close but will never go there again ever!
We have been doing weddings as a supplier here for 17 years, attended all sorts of functions, dining experiences and overnighters. Each one has given us as a business, a couple and a family memories we will cherish.
The food here is top class, and regardless of why we are there, always made to feel special with a warm welcome from everyone we come into contact with. Sunday lunches are awesome and great value for money too.
The owners have transformed the venue into an absolute gem, but kept the charm and historic feel.
The staff here are efficient, friendly and know how to give a great service. The rooms are beautiful, the best showers and pillows!
We dont need much of an excuse to visit Llechwen, it is one of my favourite places for many reasons. Looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommended.
I was asked for my credit card , i had already paid for my room .
I broached the subject of booking breakfast, again i tried to explain i could not do this online, fell on deaf ears , gave up again
Just let me get to my room !
I was given the key and it was in the coach house across the path outside .
Upon opening said room, which was supposed to be premium , the smell hit you of fusty , old dried damp . going into the bathroom it hit you big time black mould at bottom of the outside of the bath , mouldy grouting, missing big gaps of grouting in the tiles yuk !
The bed was comfortable with nice bedding , pity the curtain are too small for the windows , letting in light all the way round , so early wake up call for me !
The saving grace is the stunning views from the gardens , go up on the decking shame about the overflowing ash trays litter all over the tables
Breakfast was fabulous and the breakfast staff were lovely
Upon checking out , i was greeted by a surly receptionist when i pointed out the issues with the bathroom , her response was did you report it, when i said there was little point going on my experience with reception staff the previous evening, instead of asking me why , choose to ignore me .
I chatted with the new manager, who had just come through the front door , asked if it was really bad , the snow had come over night , what a breath of fresh air he was, he offered to take my case to the car, i said no you will get wet and cold , but he carried it out to my car and did say to him about my experiences which he actually listened to , lets hope some of his knowledge and customer experience rubs of on the other two members of staff , who feel they are better than their customers
We stayed at Llechwen Hall Hotel last night. It was a spur of the moment decision to book somewhere not too far from home as a bit of a treat but as it turned out it was more than a bit of a treat! Llechwen Hall is hidden away surrounded by beautiful countryside views. It is bright, light, smart and but manages to feel very welcoming and homely at the same time. It is very dog friendly, we stayed in a Superior Double Room and our little dog accompanied us. Sometimes dog friendly rooms are not the best! The room was immaculately clean and the free WiFi worked very well. We ate in the newly refurbished Lounge/Bar area. The atmosphere was lovely. Our food was 10/10! It looked and tasted wonderful. My husband ordered the Curry of the Night, Madras and he says it truly was Madras hot and very delicious. I odered the Sirloin Steak medium/rare and it was exactly that. We must mention the Staff at Llechwen. Every single member of Staff was dressed immaculately. Very smart and extremely attentive, we sensed they had all received very good Staff training because they were all relatively young but acted in the most professional way, we were really very impressed.
We will most definitely be returning to Llechwen Hall Hotel. We didn’t know it existed until yesterday but we do now and it is now on our list of favourite places to go.
We booked a accessible room for my elderly parents which met their needs, however the breakfast room the next morning is not, which proved very difficult for them so please be mindful when booking.
The let down of this hotel is the service, we waited over an hour for some chips and bar snacks in the evening and when asking staff about the wait they were very rude and dismissive. They same in the morning, staff just hanging around the continental buffet not doing anything and I had to ask for them to replenish the milk, bowls, butter and juice. I gave up asking for more bread to make toast. The buffet is there to help yourself - but how can you when everything had run out? Its such a shame because the hotel itself is lovely.
When we arrived the reception was very sleak and modern blended well with old house.
The receptionist showed us to our room as it was separate from the the main block, in the Coach House.
Pretty much as he opened the door my eye was drawn to the dirty paint work scuffs.
These scuffs carried on through out the room.
The carpet was dirty looking as was the furniture in the bedroom.
The four poster bed was literally four post s and a bed.
In the bathroom the panelled bath was rotting at the bottom where water ingress had taken place.
There was visible mould around the bath and on the tiles.
The final straw was when we discovered that some of the towels provided were soiled, at this point we took the offending Towel back down to reception on our way for our evening meal.
The reception manger was very apologetic for the Towel and for our concerns about the room.
He accomadated us by offering us a room in the main block which we accepted and aided us with some financial refund which again we accepted.
He and the other staff were very pleasant and went over and above to make the rest of our stay a pleasant one.
In summary
If you are going to put the Four Poster bedroom as premium room charging a premium rate you should make sure that it's up to standard.
The decor of the room without any of the other flaws I have mentioned was at best Tired.
I appreciate that the hotel is having a upgrade, then if the intention is eventually to upgrade the four poster room then it's unfair to charge the room at a premium rate as the room is substandard in its present state.
Some of the fixes for this room are quite easy, ie Paint, change decor and furniture removal of bathroom panels. Clean grout and raise standards of house keeping.
The saving grace for the hotel are it's freindly and nothing is too much trouble attitude of its staff.
For them I wish them the best with the upgrade.
