The hotel was just what we had wanted, out of the way and quiet. Fantastic views and location (car would be needed) about 10 minutes drive from Rosedale. We used The Backsmiths as a base to stay at as we wanted to visit surrounding areas. We visited Goathland (Heartbeat Country) and Whitby. After a full day out it was lovely...

This establishment came recommended to us from friends well versed in Englands gastro-pubs with accommodation. Blacksmiths is a large gastro-pub with rooms situated in the north Yorkshire moors not far from Rosedale. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the local villages are small, quiet and charming. Ideal for walkers and cyclists alike, and for cyclists Blacksmiths offer a secure lock-up...

We stayed for one night on saturday. On arrival I have to say we received a luke warm welcome before being shown to our room. The room was a good size and was very light and airy. The bathroom whilst a good size was dated. It reminded me of my grandparents bathroom from when I was a kid. It was...

If you want time away to relax and visit North Yorkshire this is a really good base. The bar areas and sitting room are first rate. The bar has a good selection of real ales, etc and there was a good atmosphere on each evening we spent in them. Food was excellent and the dining room is lovely. Service is...

Had a lovely weekend at this hotel with my husband and young son. The food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us especially for our three year old. We stayed in a garden room which was lovely and we enjoyed the grounds.

Staying in a local cottage, we decided to come here for dinner, after a busy day. There really wasn't much choice from the menu, all seemed rather pretentious and expensive. Originally I'm from London, and not even I could justify this sort of money, however we were too tired to go in to the main town for dinner. The food...

The location of this hotel is wonderful, our bedroom was clean but on a three night stay the bathroom towels had not been changed, the bathroom needs updating and the shower pressure improved, beds comfortable. The hotel lacked atmosphere , cheerfull staff, very good breakfast,

Had 2 nights at the Blacksmiths Inn in June 2015, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very pleasant, helpful staff, nice bar areas with cask ales, good sized clean room/en-suite, and excellent food, - all in a peaceful rural location. Don't understand the negative reviews on here, but don't expect basic pub grub, this is so much more than that. Will return...

We found this wonderful place on Booking.com and TripAdvisor whilst looking for a late deal weekend break. We looked at many others but kept coming back to this one. So we called and booked the day before we wanted to go. Very friendly receptionist. As all their rooms are so different in shape and size, we would recommend ringing before...
