Amenities are pretty much par for the course for this type of accommodation but the mistake we made was to order a full English breakfast. The previous morning at a different bunkhouse £8 bought us a perfect breakfast served with tea, coffee, juice, cereals, toast indeed all that you would expect......... Here £7.95 got us none of that. It was...

Walking Hadrian's Wall with my brother and pre-booked this place as a break from wild camping. Arrived in the dark so the warm glow from the eco-pellet fired burner was a welcome sight. Both hosts were great and genuinely wanted to chat with us about their farm and organic lifestyle. There was no milk so the farmer went outside and...

We hiked Hadrian's Wall back in July, awesome trek on the ancient Wall, and stayed at Slack House Farm on our 2nd night. Just want to let hikers know, that this place is a lovely, clean, warm place. The heat was on for us, the place was spotless, and the owner friendly and warm. Free tea and coffee, and milk, a great...

Warm welcome guaranteed here about 1/4 mile north of the Wall just north of Birdoswald Fort in stunning, tranquil scenery. Stayed in the Camping Barn, but nothing slumming about it. The walk-in wet room with copious hot water was ideal after a long day's walking. The supper was superb - Eco credentials 10 out of 10 - and the do-it-yourself...

I have done a lot of international traveling alone for business, and with family. This place is AWESOME for those who will embrace a camping/authentic experience. Traveled as a single adult with three squabling teens, this place was perfect for us. Big, clean upstairs room in a bunkhouse, locked room with a very clean bathroom and comfortable beds. Downstairs is...

What a fabulous place to stay and an excellent base to see Hadrians wall and the beautiful surrounding area. Lovely accommodation, we stayed in the camping barn which was excellent. Wonderful catering options available and friendly hosts. Perfect place to stay.

We stayed in the camping loft, which was basic but perfectly acceptable for the price and only a fe hundred metres from the wall path. The owners could not do enough to help us - including offering us a lift down to the Samson Inn in Gilsland, which I recommend too, allowing a friend to park his camper in the...

Two of my friends and I were hiking all of hadrians wall. We were at about 15 miles and as we got to BIRDSOWALD roman site the heavens opened and I mean opened. We were going to camp but we had no water left and the prospect of putting tents up in a downpour was not to inviting. Staff at...

Just spent the weekend at this great venue. Totally relaxed atmosphere where the hosts really look after you but let you get on and enjoy yourself. The food is great especially the hangover curing cooked breakfasts. Couldn't have chosen a better setting for a girly 40th celebration.

Absolutely first class highly recommend this as an overnight stop. Friendly folk. Excellent cake (thank you Amanda). Suppers pretty hot too. Unpasteurised milk. Home made cheese. Accommodation of a very high standard. Highlight of our week.
