Before I write further, I will quote from the book written by one of the (young) owners - Judith and Peter who purchased the almost derelict castle and have undergone a painstaking and historically sympathetic renovation. Castles in the Air - Judy Corbett :: " ... This was to become the philosophy behind our future restoration of the house. Keeping...

We stayed in the Kings room on a Friday and Saturday night. We were greeted warmly by Paddy, the groundsman, who took us to our room and brought us a tray of tea and biscuits to enjoy. The room was huge with beautiful views from the ancient windows. It is full of antiques and the en suite was a treat...

We stayed overnight at Gwydir Castle last month. My wife thought it would be cool to stay in one of the most documented haunted castles in Wales since I write ghost books for a living. Our first impression of Gwydir Castle is that it's a beautifully restored castle and gardens and Judy and Peter did a fantastic job of fixing...

We were treated to an overnight stay in this beautiful castle as an anniversary present from our two son's. All I can say is what a fantastic place and setting made even better by the service we were given whilst there. Reading the history on how they brought the castle back to what it is today is a testament to...

We stayed five wonderful days at Gwydir Castle and loved every minute. We stayed there in early December and the weather played just a minor role in our days of sightseeing. Judy and Peter couldn't be more accommodating and helpful. Judy's book, CASTLES IN THE AIR, is a terrifi account of how they somehow managed to restore the castle and...

'I would just like to add my voice to the amazingly positive reviews of Gwydir Castle. We were lucky enough to stay recently and it was the highlight of our trip. If the tick of an old clock and the crackle of a fire sound appealing then this is the place for you. Entering Gwydir is like entering the pages...

I unfortunately have to differ with the most recent (positive) postings for Gwydir Castle. While we were looking for an "authentic" castle experience in North Wales, we were not expecting what we encountered. My wife had read "Castles in the Air" prior to the trip...I wish I had (I read it while at Gwydir) because it would have given me...

Attended a family wedding at this venue, what a fantastic place. Bride and groom stayed for a few nights and they loved it there!! Nothing to dislike about this one.

If you're a 21st century traveler, this may not be for you. There's no shower (but a huge bathtub), no TV or internet. Instead, there'e a big room furnished with antiques, breakfast by a fireplace, peacocks outside the windows, and acres of garden to wnader through. Judy and Peter have done a wonderful job in restoring this gem, an oasis...

“The Duke of Beaufort's room is wonderful but the bathroom isn't ensuite (It is right next to the room and private though).”

“they are all unique - one is self catering (the Gate House) I believe, but all are warm and spacious. I liked the Duke of Beauforts room because the peacocks would fly up to the roof opposite and sit outside the window - beautiful.”
